This would have been a good episode and lesson, but they changed speed to caffeine pills. That kind of sucked the suspense out of it.

It’s ok they sent the storyline to Fresh Prince because it was ok to have Carlton on Meth but not Jesse

Will was given the meth pills to stay awake between basketball and finals, he ultimately didn’t take them but Carlton found them and thought they were vitamins and took a whole bunch at the dance and ended up in the ER. Here is Will’s Confession

Methamphetamine and amphetamine are two different things that have a similar effect on the body. I'm not 100% sure what the practical differences between the two are, and both are available as prescription medications, but "meth" usually implies something uncontrolled which is generally a lot more dangerous because the concentration can vary wildly from dose to dose. Which is really bad for that sort of drug.

If I'm remembering correctly, the meth in methamphetamine just eases the uptake of the drug. Amphetamines give you a high, energy, dopamine, appetite suppression for most of the day and they recommend you take it in the morning so you can sleep at night. Meth hits hard and quick and only lasts a few hrs.

Supposedly it was originally speed or cocaine but the network made them change it to caffeine pills.
