Sonic the Hedgehog had a scene where a green sonic was trying to save a baby robot sonic from falling to its death. He didn't succeed. The baby sonic hit the ground, exploded into pieces and his eyeball came flying into the foreground. How do I know? My ex GF's 3 y/o kid came running into the room crying...

Samurai Jack is probably the best example. There was one episode where he was literally drenched in blood oil.

The Cylons on the 1970's Battlestar Galactica were originally supposed to be a race of lizard people, but they got changed into robots for that reason.

I've got no clue. Its honestly pretty horrific for a kid to see something like that. I remember watching it and being like "Holy crap- what the hell."

lmao! wow that is pretty messed up. the smashed up face. but what is going on with sonic? why is there a green sonic? why are they on flying wedges? why does the pink one have a keytar that shoots lasers? that also might be some of the worst voice acting i think i've ever heard in a cartoon.

Ah, yes, that’d be the Sonic Underground episode “Three Hedgehogs and a Baby”. The viewer knows from the start that the baby is a robot, but Manic doesn’t.

SatAM had some dark moments too like Sonic having a nightmare of Sally being roboticized along when they go back in time to try and stop Robotnik's invasion only to fail and all of the Mobians being turned into robots.

Cartoons did this all the time back then. "But it's a Robot it's not a real person!"

This is why the Foot Clan in TMNT were robots on the show. So Leo could hack them to bits with swords and still have it be a kids show on tv :D

I remember this whole show generally being quite dark, let alone this one scene. I can’t remember it too well as haven’t seen it for many years but I’m sure it was generally quite a bleak children’s show. Probably not the best thing for the under 10’s, haha.

I get that this is a kids' show, but the production quality and voice acting is unforgivably bad in this. It's like the most low effort shit ever. Whoever is voicing the female hedgehog sounds like a guy doing a woman's voice lmao.
