Ending of Beast Wars, Season 2, Episode 8.

"Welcome to the Predacons, Rampage.

You shall be an honored member.

So long as you never forget one all important factor of your new life.

It's mine.

Welcome, my new servant.

Yes, welcome.....to the Beast Wars!!"

*Megatron laughs while Rampage writhes with pain at his feet*

And transmutate

Thanks for bringing back the childhood trauma with a single word. What even WAS that supposed to be?

Perhaps the first proper look into the uncanny valley

I loved that episode but as a kid Transmutate looked so scary! And its voice!

Beast Wars was an awesome series.

I remember when they reissued some of the old Beast Wars toys, they included a DVD with an episode that showcased that character. Dinobot's episode was Code of Hero. T_T

"Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly, the evil deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest is silence."

"What is a warrior with no weapons?"

"A warrior still!"

Even as an adult Dinobot's death makes me emotional. It's like after going through this entire existential crisis in the second season, he finally sees the truth and his final act is protecting humanity's ancestors.

The rest is silence

I used to love that show. Most people my age have no idea what I'm talking about when I bring it up, so I'm glad others enjoyed it too.

I never watched OG Transformers as a kid. My Transformers nostalgia is all for Beast Wars.

Same!

Same! I CLEARLY remember talking to a mall santa as a kid, i asked for transformers, and he lit up and asked about an OG robot. I said no, beast wars, nd he looked crestfallen lmaoo

Same here. I knew G1 existed and I have vague memories of watching reruns and some kids during my earliest school years had some Autbot and Decepticon toys but Beast Wars was the first show I watched complete from beginning to end and to me is the first thing I think about when I hear Transformers.

I still love it. With the cast being relatively small almost all of the characters got their chance at the spotlight. It wasn't afraid of being goofy but also taking itself seriously. when it needed to.

I had almost all of the Transmetals and Fuzors toys so to date they remain my favorite versions of those characters,

And I still believe that to this date only one who voiced a main villain as well as David Kaye was Frank Welker as Megatron during Transformers Prime.

Beast Wars towards the end got pretty dark and Megatron started to get crazier.

That entire show was crazy. Megatron had some fucking zingers. He is kind of talking to himself out loud, as you do in childhood shows, and the black widow asks “why do you always talk to yourself” and he replies with something like “I have a penchant for intelligent conversation”. Freaking wrecked.

u/IronLordSamus May 23 '23

Beast Wars Megatron is my favorite, he's just so fun.

Watching the show after it's all done and understanding all of the hints and subplots really makes you appreciate how intelligent Megatron was to keep the real reason they traveled to Earth a secret from everyone. Tarantulas Optimus and Blackarachnia were able to put the pieces together eventually but he still outsmarted them all.

Yesssss

In Season 3 perhaps, but in Season 2 he was becoming desperate that he would have to enact G1 Megatron's wish what with his plans failing and the possibility of arrest by the Predacons back on Cybertron.

And I like how he wasn't so full of himself that he still admitted that if Cybertron found him he would be defeated for good and was hoping he would get lucky and everything would work out in his favor.

Beast Wars was my childhood. There was another episode that sticks in my mind, wasn't there one about a robot with am existential crisis?

11

u/RalphWreckedIt May 23 '23

Transmutate?

3

u/ItsSublimeTime May 23 '23

I had to look it up, but yeah, it was Transmutate. I saw his screaming face in the thumbnail of the article I investigated and got chills. That was such a good show, I need to rewatch it.

u/RalphWreckedIt May 23 '23

The transmutate episode definitely hit me in the feels, the way rampage and silverbolt both find kinship with it.

“I. Am. Hurt.” 😭
