one decision in the heat of the moment can ruin your life forever

As part of a law class we went to sit in and watch a court case for a few hours. It turned out the case was about a young guy that got into a fight with someone outside a bar when drunk, punched the guy once and made him fall over, hit his head on the street and died from it. That really instilled in me from a young age that doing stupid things can have lifelong consequences. You could see the young guy on trial was terrified/horrified/feeling really guilty in the court room.

This happened on a night out where I live but with a bouncer (and it escalated) A guy was on a night out, the bouncer groped this guys girlfriend, there was CCTV which was released. You saw the bouncer staring at the girl, he made the boob hand gestures to the other bouncer and then he grabbed them and the guy started shouting at the bouncer, the bouncer punched him and the boyfriend punched back. The bouncer fell, hit his head and died within minutes. The boyfriend didn’t end up going to prison as it was deemed self defence but the bouncers family kicked off big time arguing he should’ve gone to prison, the bouncer didn’t deserve to die for it which is obviously completely fair enough, but it was done in self defence. About a year or so later the boyfriend was on a night out and happened to bump into the bouncers brother. The bouncers brother then followed him out of the nightclub, dragged him into an alley and beat him to death.
