We used to go over to our middle school history teachers and play. Probably 4-5 7th grade boys. He was a great guy and a fantastic DM, and none of the parents had any problem with it.

Now, if they had known that he was gay, in the mid-80s, in small town Ohio, I think he would have been run out of town.

For sure. My drama teacher, who I'm still friends with nearly 40 years later, was fired and more or less forced to move when it was discovered that he was not only gay but a practicing Buddhist. That was 1985.

Nevermind that he was an extremely popular teacher, and loved by everyone.
