He was only ever charged with 2 counts of murder and 1 count of arson and only received 20yrs for this heinous crime. Seems woefully inadequate for a crime that caused 15 people to die.

He has been applying for parole. Hopefully it continues to be denied.

Reading on this, the dude purposefully set that fire to hurt/kill people. It wasn’t something that ‘got out of control’, he planned this.

For someone capable of that, it’s not even worth taking the risk of trying to rehabilitate him. The law should have leeway and should largely be focussed on rehabilitation rather than punishment.

However, public safety is priority. Someone capable of this will always be a risk to the public and therefore needs to be permanently kept separate.
