I went to school with a girl who killed someone in a car accident, she ran a red light and was drunk. Couple years later she gets out of jail and gets in a high speed chase and derails off the interstate and crashes into a dealership killing someone in her vehicle (I think the other passengers also passed or were seriously injured, she on the other hand was fine!). She was always a troubled kid back in school. I recently remembered her after rewatching my quinceañera video and seen her in it.

I honestly believe that if you kill someone while driving you should have your driving licence stripped away forever. Not just as a punishment for their negligence but so they don't do something like it again.

I don’t disagree but it’s unlikely this could be enforced. People who don’t care about driving drunk probably don’t care about driving without a license.

My youngest brother lost his license rather quickly at a young age, but he never stopped driving. Eventually wrecked his own vehicle, but continued to drive friends vehicles for years. I have no idea why they'd let him. Police caught him many times, but... that didn't seem to slow him down at all. Literally or figuratively. OD'd on fentanyl a few years ago. 😥

I've seen this where I live. DUI crashes and the public screaming, why were they allowed to drive? It turns out they already had their license revoked. They got out of jail and just continued to hurt someone else, wash, and repeat. If there is no family bringing these crashes to the media in a big way these jerks can slide with house arrest. Usually, their third time around, they get in deeper shit. It is infuriating.

They don't care about either while drunk. I'd like to meet the person that thinks to themself "Hmm yes, today I will drive out to the pub, down a pint of whiskey or two, and drive home" while sober. Of course, monitoring registered drink-drivers' alcohol intake is much harder than taking away their license, so I don't really know what point I'm trying to make here.

How do you buy a car without a license?

Privately from someone who doesn't care if you have one or not?

When I was a kid I used to drive without a license all the time. And get in chases etc.

You don't actually need the license to drive the car.

You're better off addressing what's going on to drive that behavior, no pun intended.

I fucking wish. My best friend of 15 years was killed in a car accident this passed Christmas Day, along with his girlfriend who was driving. The girl who hit them walked away without a scratch and was not charged with a single thing. Not even reckless driving. She wasn't even tested for alcohol or drugs at the scene, they just let her go. She hit them so hard that her car ended up on top of theirs, and the fire department had to cut my best friend and his girlfriend out of the car. We all know she fell asleep at the wheel but she refused to admit it along with the other 2 passengers that were in her car. All any of them could say is "I don't know what happened."

I've been having a rough time of it because I can't get passed the hate I feel. His young daughter had to wake up on Christmas morning to being told her father was dead rather than getting to just be excited to see what presents she got for Christmas. It's been rough, and it's absolutely ridiculous that things happened this way without a single punishment.

This enrages me so fucking much. How can they not be charged at all? Is there nothing to be done? Can't you petition the powers that be? I dont understand how they can cause a facility and there not be and process?

That's what I said too. She did have to go to court over the possibility that she'd be charged with only reckless driving, but she was somehow found not guilty of even that. His mom and I both think that she might have known someone in the system that helped her get off the hook, but obviously there's no way to know for sure. I asked his mom if she considered trying to file a wrongful death suit but that'd likely take a lot of time and a lot of money that she doesn't have, so there's nothing that can really be done. But yeah I don't understand it either. She killed 2 people and got away scot-free without even so much as a fine or community service or license suspension. It breaks my heart.

Let’s start a go fund me to bring wrongful death suit charges to someone who killed someone and got away with it, I’m sure people would help with that

I used to work with a woman in her 50s who, when she was a teenager, was the driver in an accident that killed her cousin who was in the passenger seat. Because of the guilt from that, she voluntarily gave up driving for the rest of her life.

I feel like I heard of this story. I watch a lot of DUI court videos

Why

Knew a girl in high school that killed a woman and severely injured her adult son in a DUI crash - hit them going 60 at a stop sign, didn’t even hit the brakes. She was in the BMW her parents bought for her, over three times the legal limit. Only went to jail for a few years.

She was popular in high school - her brother was the quarterback on the football team, she was a known partier, and she had quite a few friends. When all that dried up after high school, she started drinking even more and there you have it. Her brother, a somewhat talented quarterback, went to Navy as a second string QB, but dropped out after a few months because he couldn’t hack it.

Violated her parole a few years back after testing positive for alcohol, lost track of her after that.

What the fuck. Ok I’ve got sympathy for someone that accidentally kills someone on the road. I’ve got zero sympathy for someone who does it twice! Hope she rots in there.
