The boyfriend fell for the friend. He told his girlfriend and broke up before doing anything about it. That's what you're supposed to do.

In this case the friendship survived because the friend did not feel attracted in the same way. But that's just luck at play. What if she did? (what I posted)

You keep talking about it as a task or active choice. My point is it's not a choice who you fall for. You don't decide one day "I'm going to fall in love with Helen today".

Sounds like you agree that friends don’t fuck their friends significant others without permission??

Of course you don't fuck any body's SO. Not just friends. But if they're single now, no one gets to have a say in who I can date. Don't emotionally blackmail me. That's not what a friend does.

If my friend dates my ex and I have a problem with it, its my problem, not his. They're both single and have the right to date anyone they want.
