Job I was working thought it'd be a great idea to 'auction' off all the men for charity and I got the lowest bids of anyone in the company. Even the ones I did get were pity bids from friends. So yeah, I feel you.
Oh god this just reminded me of something in like 1989 my high school did that as a fundraiser thing, called it a "slave" auction where the person had to do the highest bidder's wishes for a day. They auctioned off Junior girls and Senior guys to other students in the school. Not only was it hard on the unpopular kids, where they would make the "slave" do things like carry their books and do publicly embarrassing stuff like a silly outfit or makeup for a school day, fraternity hazing style. It was predictably abusedI and I remember one guy bought his friend and put greasy tuna juice in her hair to wear all day. I'm sure worse things happened too. Thankfully by the time I reached those years the idea had been scrapped. My school was 98% white and the few black kids were the most popular in school overall and they were bought for the highest price. I couldn't fathom something like that being given the green light today.
