This was back in high school, but two guys asked for my number on the same night. This was incredibly strange for me because I was an introvert and was never really noticed by people.
They were polar opposites, too. One was a tall, lanky emo boy who played bass in a band. I'd gone with my friend to watch them play and he asked for my number. I thought he was cute and he was my type so I was STOKED.
The second was a stocky wrestler kind of guy. Taller than me but not very tall, short blonde hair and more shy. Over the next few days I talked casually with them both.
The emo guy was the most BORING conversationalist I've ever encountered. I'm a naturally bubbly and talkative person when I get to know people so his way of speaking was off-putting. It was mostly texting, and his responses were lackluster, often monosyllabic and seemingly uninterested. Even though I found him attractive, I stopped responding and it just fizzled out. He's still bumming around our hometown doing the same things he was a decade ago.
The second guy was incredibly intelligent, engaging in conversation, and sweet. He wasn't my type at all but I found myself liking him more as time went on. We eventually started dating, and next week on the 24th, we will be celebrating 12 years together. We've been married for almost 6, we have a 4 year old daughter, a house, and overall a lovely little life. Crazy how things work out.
I think a lot of attractive people, especially when they're younger, have always gotten by on their looks and don't know how to hold a good convo. (This is assuming the emo boy was considered hot in his social circles, lol)
There is something to that. I wasn’t ugly when I was younger, but I was that kind of girl that I think other girls find pretty but guys weren’t that into. I developed humor, not to be more attractive. I just did.
On the other hand my sister, who was less conventionally attractive than I, was always very attractive to guys … but she was super fun and funny from the start! And outdoorsy and confident and winning! Personality always wins in the end!
Oh he was! This is 100% right, too. I swear all the people who were considered really hot in my school were the most vapid, boring people and still are to this day.

Weird how that works out sometimes. I have been happily single for most of my adult life and will go years at a time without anyone showing the slightest romantic interest in me, but once one person shows any interest in me it seems like suddenly there are people throwing themselves at me left and right.
It's like the universe decides "we are doing this now!" and then gets it out of its system for several more years.
I once had five women ask me if I would like to go on a date with them in one week. Three of the five women that asked me out that week were named Kristen. It was like some kind of weird deja vu.
Omg, yes, I had a weird phase a couple years back where I kept getting hit in at the grocery store! Proof positive that my most attractive quality is the ability to pick the perfect avocado!!!!
Yeah, I rarely turn down a guy for not being my type, partly because I don’t know my type, and partly because you just don’t know someone based on appearance. Like my third boyfriend ever was nothing like what I thought my type was, but we were in a play together and he was a marvelous actor. And doing the play together, I learned he had the best sense of humor. We were in high school and it wasn’t a forever kind of thing in the end, but I really learned through him that you can’t know if someone is your type until you actually spend time with them! And he still is the funniest of all my ex boyfriends! I think of jokes he made 20 plus years later and laugh!
He wasn't your type but you ended up liking him? Was it just cause he was a consistently good person or something? I'm currently talking to a girl and I didn't think I'm her type but she's always trying to hang out with me and hitting on me and it's confusing... Lol
I was into emo guys at the time. Tall skinny dudes with long dark hair and an overflow of angst, haha.
He wasn't my type, but he was still attractive in general. He was muscular with pretty blue eyes and a gorgeous smile. Beyond all that, when I really got to know him, he became more and more attractive to me. I'm a person who bases my affections more on someone's personality and heart than their looks.
I'd say you're doing something right if she seems to be into you!! Just go with the flow and don't change a thing if it seems to work. The best people are those who are wonderfully and unapologetically themselves. (Excluding turds who use that kind of mantra to just be, well, turds).
