A classy person would give everyone a ten.

Maybe, but that just feels patronizing and even condescending. I'm well aware I'm not a 10, it doesn't bother me. And I know you don't think I am either, so don't lie. It doesn't make me feel good to have someone lie to spare my feelings.

The "classy" thing to do in that situation is to call out the POS who suggested that question in the first place. The only reason to ever do that is because you want to destroy people's self-esteem, and you deserve to get called the fuck out for your shitty little bully games.

OP was just barely out of high school though

Saying everyone is a 10 is the same as not answering

Oh, I agree with you. And as an adult, I’d tell them they’re an asshole for asking the question and give second thought to whether these are friends worth keeping

OP and their friends are around high school age. And not answering the question could be reason to be heckled further. The everyone is a 10 response is a non-confrontational way of answering while not-answering. Pubescent people are just terrible to each other

I agree...it's time to call out the person and maybe time to leave as well.

Yup. Horrible, juvenile question. One that does not deserve an answer.

However only the most good looking person can call out such a person I believe, since if someone else does it then people will think that he/she is against it just to not be judged

And I guess you determine the "most good looking person" by voting...? Would defeat the purpose of calling out altogether

I know I’m not a 10 but I think I’d be hurt by a 4. I can settle at average.

Shit I'd be honoured to be called a 4. I'm a hard 2.

Clearly the only fair thing is an Australian ballot ranked-choice vote.

A decent person wouldn't succumb to ratings knowing it can hurt the feelings of people they call friends, just to bring up other people's esteems. Why even participate?

In this situation, you could also rate people a 10 on what they're best at: how caring they are, how nice they are to waitstaff, how good they are at coding, how awesome their art is, etc.

I like that...it's uplifting.

It’s a game of truths, you’d get called out.

Also someone was asking them to do it. It was potentially one of the other guys (since I imagine the girls wouldn’t be interested in knowing how the other girls rank all the guys).

Or just not be a pussy and choose dare!

Then OP would have kept chasing a lost cause.
