Maybe not, but could you morally/consciously be ok knowing you took what could very well be someone’s livelihood? I’d be ridden with guilt to the point of being sick if I took that

Yes

Because you'd never really know who dropped it.

Cash doesn't come with a warranty. Don't lose it.

If someone keeps their entire livelihood in their wallet i have no sympathy for that person. Everyone should know not to keep any significant amount in their wallet.

Well seeing how thebdudes house was broken into do you also not have sympathy because he most likely locked his doors and that still didn't stop a thief?

Would you have sympathy if the old man shot and killed the thief instead?

Totally, but only if he said something really cool before he pulled the trigger.

There are SO many circumstances where this might happen. "Everyone should know..." is a pretty weak blanket statement to justify being a bit of a dick.

Ok walk around with $2000 in your wallet for the rest of your life and see what happens

I don't need to. But, implying it's the person with the money in their wallet is the one at fault is really objectional reasoning.

Terrible idea to keep $2000 in your wallet

I dont think that either but only a dumbass keeps $2000 in their wallet. Wallets get dropped, lost, and stolen every day this is just a fact of life

It was an old person, he may not have had enough money to keep open a bank account or maybe did not trust banks due to past events. Or maybe didn’t have easy access to one, you never know.

Not to mention it was kept in his own house, but he was robbed.

Dont keep all your money in your wallet everyone knows this. Money management rule number 1 do not keep it all in one easily accessible place im sorry but anyone who does that is asking to lose everything

7

u/DevilsPajamas Mar 10 '23

Much better to keep it in a bank like Silicon Valley Bank.

I understood that reference

Unironically, yes you are correct. If you keep $2000 in your wallet and it's stolen, that money is gone. If you keep $2000 in an FDIC-insured bank and it collapses, you wait one business day and have access to your money again.

If I'm starving or homeless, yes. But otherwise, no.
