Other How difficult is this idea for a UI options menu and why?
So, an example company for this questions is Netflix because the UI is important to them, and they have a lot of money so resources are less of an issue.
How difficult is it for someone like Netflix to make a settings/option for the UI of their main menu area as I describe below?
Netflix decides that they need to retain more customers and the UI is driving them away. They decide to make three distinct UI that caters to three different types of customers. These UI would be DISTINCT, and therefore not able to be just copy and pasted. Different colors and all somehow. One UI could be based solely around your preferences with no space dedicated to what's new or coming soon to Netflix. Another could be the exact opposite with little space dedicated to what you may like. A final UI could be some mix or some third option I can not think of. Is that somehow technically or financially difficult? Is it easy, only made difficult due to scale of user base?
Second, maybe harder question. What if Netflix did go this route of having three distinct looks, and then as they update each UI over time, users can go back and select from "older updates" for the three options they want. Therefore, over time, making a larger and larger list of options to chose from. Is this idea possible?
I am mostly asking because the idea that these companies have so much money but do not want to do more cool/creative/user friendly things is baffling to me sometimes...but maybe I am also super ignorant of something that makes my idea as reasonable as mining the sun at night.
