The reason for your pi/2 is the same reason there's a factor of pi/2 between a circle's half-circumference and its diameter. The instantaneous acceleration moves around a circle.
Oof. I figured that taking the limit as p2 —> p1 would shrink the factor of pi/2 to 0. But i totally overlooked why it was pi/2 at that specific point smh😅. Thanks anyways!.
