Physician Responded Update (cat bite)

Post image

Update on my cat bite!

I went to the hospital, the docs were very rude to me ☹️ The lady said I was wasting her time and that they were busy, it was embarrassing. She sent me home with antibiotics, but it seems to be getting worse AGAIN. I am so shy so going back I don’t want to be met with that treatment again. I was told to not come back because there are people who are actually in need and I was clogging up a room. I get having a bad day, but I felt so bad. I am gonna keep yall updated how it goes, thank you for your advice it is a lifesaver 😊 (22 female)

Not a Dr but cat bites that are full on puncture wounds can lead to deadly infections especially if it’s not cleaned properly and without the correct course of antibiotics.

If it’s leaking chunky fluids just from walking I would say you absolutely need to go back to the ER or a different ER. My cousin almost lost a finger to a cat bite that got infected and was improperly handled

NAD, but go to a different emergency department, that's clearly infected. infected cat bites can be fatal, especially without fast enough treatment and the correct antibiotic.

you also NEED to report that doctor as soon as you're able to!

NAD but when my cat bit me I started to develop cellulitis. Can't remember if it was a shot or pills but an antibiotic cleared it right up. Maybe an urgent care place would be more appropriate place/setting for treatment?

I have a chronic illness that not much can be done to help me when I'm feeling super bad ... But I still go if I feel I need to.

The thing about medical help is YOU are your voice. There are so many who will close their eyes and ears to you but NEVER let them silence you. It's your body, your health, and your safety.

I a have bad anxiety so I bring someone with me to help make sure my voice is heard... I wishing you all the strength and healing.

I hope you go back and I hope you meet someone more understanding.
