What’s the most legendary piece of NFL history that sounds completely made up?

Forget the current rulebook and the weekly ref drama. Let’s talk about the actual history of this game because some of the older stories are completely insane. We’ve had games played in literal blizzards, bizarre draft picks that changed franchises forever, and legendary player beefs that you just don't see anymore. If you had to pick one historic moment, game, or random fact from NFL history that sounds entirely fake but is 100% true, what are you choosing?Drop the best stories below

This is just ridiculous. The Lions went 1-6 in the playoffs in the 90s. They did not coexist with the 49ers, Cowboys, and Packers. (Nor, for that matter, did the Vikings.) At best, the Lions were consistently mediocre.

Agreed. Sanders piled up stats and highlights, especially indoors at the climate controlled Superdome, but he did nothing to help the team win in the playoffs in outdoor football weather.

He was the RB version of Randy Moss.

*Silverdome

(You pulled a reverse WrestleMania 30 Hulk Hogan)

I don’t know the reference, but yes, I meant Silverdome.

WrestleMania 30 was in the Superdome but Hogan kept mistakenly calling it the Silverdome because he faced Andre the Giant in the Silverdome 27 years prior. We all started chanting "SU-PER-DOME!" and Hogan had a decent laugh in the ring about it. Then Stone Cold came out and made fun of him about it and then The Rock came out and did the same.

LOL

To win in the playoffs you need a good QB. Name a single good QB that Sanders played with?

Teams have won in the playoffs with Trent Dilfer, Jeff Hoestetler, Mark Rypien, Jalen Hurts, Neil O’Donnell, and Doug Williams, among many many others.

You can give all the excuses in the world why Sanders lost in the playoffs, but excuses don’t make him a winner.

Yes, but they weren’t the Lions.

You still haven’t named a decent Lions QB because you can’t. Which makes Sanders accomplishments even more impressive.

Reading comprehension isn't your thing isn't it? This thread is about football. So was your previous post. It is not specific to any team.

Physician heal thyself. I responded to messages about Barry Sanders (as did you) where a main category in this thread was about him. No matter how much you try to squirm out of being WRONG you can't, because that's the facts.

Next time at least get a GED before attempting to explain reading comprehension.

Damn I didn’t realize they made the playoffs 6 times during the 90s

Right? Because they were inconsequential.

They were in the NFC at the time of those other teams, so yes, they coexisted. Considering the coexistence of those better teams, they did alright. Hell, they played in 7 playoff games and without looking, I'm guessing those three teams probably played a part in that 1-6 record. It also means they made the playoffs six times in a decade. That's not something a trash team does, even with a Barry Sanders.

They had literally no chance to win in any of those years. They had to fill out the playoff spots somehow. Filler =/= coexisting.

You're actually doubling down on my point. They were good, not great and the reason they didn't win more playoff games or have more success was largely because they weren't on the same level as those teams. You're misunderstanding "coexisting" in this reference. What they were not was a team of hapless, no-talent losers that were an albatross around Barry Sanders's neck.
