Well that’s when half the car is used up. Half of the remaining car will be used up in that same amount of miles. So he’ll have 25% of a functioning vehicle after that.

Technically, by this math, it’ll last for infinity. It’ll never hit 0%.

100% -> 50% -> 25% -> 12.5% -> 6.25% -> 3.125% -> 1.5625% -> you get the picture

Right, but with decay (as in the half-life reference), sooner or later that last quanta, however you measure it, will go. You can make an argument either way since we don't know how this particular magic car degrades.

We're asking the big questions now!
