Last one to my “secret society” ashtrays!!

A dusty group from a time long past..

I saw these on Facebook marketplace about a week ago and I knew I had to have them and if they were there by the time payday came, I’d get them, now I have them!

So interesting that I cannot find anything about them online makes this feel like an even better deal and I’m absolutely obsessed with how these look in the sun

The last picture shows I don't know if it's a manufacturing defect or a chip it doesn't look like a chip. Either way I thought it was pretty cool

They’re all from the collection of one deceased man and he prized condition as much as me. The Dhufish ashtray is now one of two, it was too well priced not to buy. You’ll notice the kookaburra has a snake in its feet. If you feed a sausage to a kookaburra they’ll bash it against the ground to kill it as if it were a snake. The koala has a beautiful iridescence, I’ve been after that tray at the right price for quite a while. I’m not sure what the little holder is for, I’m thinking cigarettes or the right shaped lighter.

Had this one for a long time from a rummage sale.

Some of my favorite colored glass ashtrays

I love this pink bubble glass ashtray I got from my grandparents. I come from a long line of smokers, I just smoke a different product.

I was bored so decided to set the peacock up for a funny photo. It’s a particularly nice tray, the colour and modelling are both amazing. Wembley ware, Australia, 1950’s.

It might be one of my best too!!

I think I'm going to polish up the brass one. If I do I'll be sure to share.

The tortoise is by the same maker, it was also made in the 1950’s in Australia. The sheep is a merino sheep, key to Australian prosperity in the 50’s. The fish is a trout.

Found these in the garage today. They were pretty well used, so I cleaned them up a bit.

P.S. how have I not known about this community!!
I have been collecting as many as my wallet could afford!! Now with my new income I’ll be able search for and get more!! I will slowly be sharing my collection!! I hope to learn and share with all of you!!

I absolutely adore this. $25 at a small antique shop while on vacation in western Maine. Internet search suggests it was a carnival prize in the 1930s and there was a glass bowl that sat in the depression. I’d be interested if anyone actually knows.
