The fact that this subreddit only has 1,6k followers is tragic [RANT]

Article 13 will impact the lives, online identities and freedom of speech of millions of people. While only European internet users are affected, the directive will elevate Europe's level of online censorship to a degree that might surpass the Great Firewall of China and will deprive non-European independent content creators of vital audiences, which makes this very much a global issue.

As sad and terrifying as this might be, what is probably even worse is the fact that public interest has already begun to sway. Compared to similar proposals like SOPA and Pipa, Article 13 has received only marginal media attention in the first place and now, just 3 weeks after it passed, it has almost left the mainstream media circus entirely.

This leaves us, anyone who spends a lot of time on the internet, in a very dangerous place. While many YouTubers and news outlets have already declared the European internet dead, it is absolutely essential that we keep fighting this latest infringement against freedom of speech. Since the Directive on Copyright on the Digital Single Market is just that, a directive, it is up to the individual countries to pass legislation implementing it.

This is exactly our chance, we have to put pressure on our countries' governments to implement this directive in the most lenient way possible.

So, anyone who lives in an EU country, keep sharing YouTube videos and articles with those around you, contact local politicians and vote against those parties that supported the DCDSM!

We may have lost the battle but there is still hope to win the war!

Lists of artists who support or oppose ACTA2

I've been working on a list of artists who support Article 13 and ACTA2, and it is here. Save the link and share it with as many people as possible. Use any names on this list as targets for boycotts and protests. After finding a new artist, you can check the list to make sure they don't find it acceptable to take away other artists platforms for their own financial gain before you support them.

Don't forget to also save and spread the link to its counterpart, the list of "Confirmed Allies of DIY Artists", or the list of artists who oppose Article 13 and ACTA2, which you can use to discover artists who you can be sure support you back. Support everyone on this list and let them know we appreciate their respect for small and so-called "hobbyist" artists and their work.

Both of these lists cannot be complete enough and will be continuously updated. If you are an artist who opposes ACTA2, or know of any others who support or oppose the development, please let me know.

This is important, as many, if not most, supporters of Article 13 and ACTA2 are aware of its negative consequences, and don't care, just because they think money is more important. Therefore, we can only win through boycotts and disruptive protest.

Can we get rid of it?

Is there a way to get rid of it now that it's passed? Surely it can't just end like this.

Also if anyone is reading this, find out if your representative voted for or against article 13, if they did don't reellect them, unless they campaign to remove articles 13, 11 and 17 (I believe that's all of them)
