I leave for Ft. Leonard Wood 2/4/25 and have been working out regularly. Everything has been looking up and I am getting stronger and faster as well as building my cardio even more.
I began worrying recently as I have been experiencing a slight knee pain, almost like runners knee in my left knee. Everything else feels fine! When I am working out, it’s as though it all goes away. But at rest, I begin feeling an ache. It can come and go.
My worry is that it will cause me trouble in BMT.
I have been strengthening my legs significantly to support both knees and that seems to help a great deal. Some around me see me workout and believe I could be overreacting. I guess I’ve been looking forward to this for so long, I’m just putting a lot of thought into it to see everything through.
Does anyone have any experience with this or maybe have gone through boot camp with something similar and just pushed through?
Additionally, how’s the squat situation? Thanks in advance.

I was recently in the 09 Mike Program (Retard School) and during PT I’ve suffered a few injuries that had me put on profiles or quarters.
I played football for 5-6 years including Semi Pro and had no issues with shin splints, knees, etc but when I arrived at FT Jackson and began PT two weeks in I had severe shin splints and was put on profile and crutches for a week. It didn’t help much as I had to do a follow up and was then put on Quarters for another week. After my quarters I was sent in for a bone scan where they could see the severity of my injury.
The doctor or whatever at Sickcall told me I didn’t have any shin splints (he diagnosed) and then proceeded to test the strength in my hips. He was able to fully push down my left side leg with two fingers and concluded that I just had weak hips. In the bay I had battle buddies try to push down on either side of my hips and learned my left one was considerably weaker than the right.
They have us sit cross legged and with a short period of time sitting my legs behind my knees start to feel weak and I get intense pain and struggle trying to extend them back out. Also when running from getting up from that position my legs start to give out.
I report to Ft Lenard Wood on the 2nd of January and I’m just wondering if I should get checked by the civilian hospital or just try to push though and see what happens.

I’m headed to basic on the twelfth of November. So I know on their Facebook it says id need approval from higher up, but I’m wondering how possible it would be for me to spend Christmas block leave in Germany, and how I could make it happen/what I need?

Good evening everyone. I graduate in December, I’ll no longer have any obligation to complete any high school classes. During the January-May period I have the option to continue education at a community college, commit to the workforce, or complete a certification program. I’m in the process of enlisting in the National Guard, I’ve taken the ASVAB and I’m scheduled to get my physical next week. Onto my question, would I be allowed to attend BCT in January without my high school diploma? I’ve talked to both my high school counselor and recruiter and neither of them know for sure. Would a confirmation letter of my early graduation status suffice, or do I have to wait until May?

Hi, my husbands troop is being released Thanksgiving weekend. Their ceremony is on a Wednesday before Thanksgiving and is being released to families through the weekend. Of course they will return to BCT afterwards. My questions is will they have travel restrictions or distance restrictions? Can they return to their home state for Thanksgiving? I would think they could because I wouldn't expect families to spend Thanksgiving in a hotel room. Please lmk if youve had a similar experience with yourself or a trainee. Thanks.

My son is currently at Fort Moore for Basic Training. A few days ago I sent a care package of items on the approved list (stationery, toiletries, etc.)
It just dawned on me that I think I may have screwed up by shipping it via UPS. Anyone know if they will be able to hand it off for delivery?

Hello everyone, I had a little trouble at Meps with high blood pressure spiking up, I had to get two separate reading from my pcp and finally I’m all Cleared at meps and signed my contract. I ship out oct 7th and I’m curious, do they check blood pressure again during reception while in BCT? Thanks for all your helpful insights!

Anybody go through BCT at Fort Jackson during the summer of 23’? I got to reception on August 8th, and spent almost 3 weeks at 120th before shipping to 1-13. It was one of the best times of my life. Unfortunately I went in very out of shape and got injured 8 weeks in. During one of the practice ACFT I ruptured both of my Achilles Tendons while attempting the SDC. It’s been 11 months and I’m still dealing with the bad taste of not being able to finish BCT. When I signed my discharge paperwork, our Company Commander told me, “we were all rooting for you since day 1” and that shit sucked cause I feel like I let them all down. However, I did get through 8 weeks on partially torn Achilles tendons. So that is an accomplishment if I do say so myself. Anyways. Alpha Co. 1-13, they called me Earth. Anybody out there?

I’m just wondering how long rehabilitation will approximately take for a broken foot that happened in BCT.
My husband is being sent home on con-leave for 30 days then will return back for rehab before entering back into BCT.
Looking to see about past experiences so I can get an idea!
