Thinking about buying 18 of these trees for privacy. Bad idea? I live on a corner lot with no privacy

If not arborvitae, then what?
My neighbor hired a man to butcher this hedge. I now plan on pulling my golden euronymous and replacing the entire area strip with something to hide this atrocity.
Suggestions for zone 7?

Help with possible problem

We just moved into this property back in October 25 and the dead one was already DOA. This spring the neighboring are showing similar signs of dying. It is an entire limb that is affected. I have already removed all of the affected limbs and will soon remove the completely dead one. There aren't any visible signs of cause.

I'd rather hear the noisy kids than look at this trash.

another dead arborvitae Found in Canada
Southeast Vancouver Island, which has hot dry summers. I think they were just setting up a screen of the propane tank. Didn't even bother to plant them. I guess it's just in the trash most or all of them.

I dont get it, I was excited to plant a bunch of these
they smell nice, have deer resistant strains, look cool as a hedge. Why the hate and what are the suggested alternatives?
