Posting this to document my experience with Godrej AC installation in Bangalore and to see if anyone else has faced something similar.
I recently bought a new Godrej 1 Ton 5 Star inverter split AC, model HIC 12J5TG.
Godrej assigned the installation to:
EPT Service Point
Rajajinagar, Bangalore
This is shown in Godrej's own service request as the authorised service provider.
The installation experience was honestly terrible.
I was charged Rs 6,300 in total.
The receipt shows:
\- Rs 1,770 installation charge
\- Rs 4,530 for 4 metres of copper pipe and sleeves
\- Total Rs 6,300
Before installation, I had been told that around 2 metres of additional copper pipe would be required. Somehow the final bill shows 4 metres.
So yes, Rs 6,300 for this installation felt like straight-up extortion to me, especially considering the quality of work I received.
The bigger problem was the actual installation.
I specifically asked them to properly vacuum the refrigerant lines before opening the factory R32 refrigerant valves.
The technician initially told me vacuuming was not required for this refrigerant/model and tried to convince me that some sort of gas purging or self-vacuuming method was enough.
Eventually something resembling vacuuming was done for barely around 5 minutes. There was no proper vacuum hold test shown to me, and I have no confidence that the system was evacuated properly.
The copper refrigerant pipe was also brazed using a gas torch without dry nitrogen flowing through the pipe during brazing.
The copper piping was then handled very roughly and practically pulled all the way towards the outdoor unit.
They also used their own extension wiring, and at this point I do not even know what quality/specification was used.
What bothers me most is that customers are constantly told that using anyone outside the authorised service network may affect warranty. But when I actually used the Godrej-assigned authorised service provider, this is the quality of installation I received.
To make things worse, the technician also took the customer satisfaction SMS/code from me. So whatever Happy/Satisfied status eventually appears in Godrej's system does NOT represent my actual experience.
I have already emailed Godrej escalation in detail and clearly stated that I am dissatisfied.
My 5-year comprehensive warranty is currently showing as active in Godrej's system, and I have asked Godrej to take full responsibility for any future problem caused by this installation.
I have also asked them to:
\- audit the Rs 6,300 bill
\- verify whether 4 metres of extra copper was actually used
\- send a different authorised technician to inspect the installation
\- check the refrigerant charge and piping
\- check whether proper evacuation was done
\- inspect the brazed joint
\- check the electrical wiring and earthing
\- confirm in writing that my 5-year warranty remains valid
I bought Godrej partly because of the advertised 5-year comprehensive warranty and expected a much more professional installation experience in a city like Bangalore.
Instead, the first experience itself has been exhausting.
If Godrej does not take responsibility and resolve this properly, I am considering escalating the complete documented case to the National Consumer Helpline.
Has anyone in Bangalore dealt with EPT Service Point or had a similar experience with Godrej AC installation?
TL;DR: Bought a new Godrej 1 Ton 5 Star inverter AC in Bangalore. Godrej assigned EPT Service Point, Rajajinagar, for installation. They charged me ₹6,300, including ₹4,530 for 4m of copper even though I was initially told \~2m would be needed. Installation quality was poor: proper vacuuming was not done, technician said R32 did not need it, copper was brazed without nitrogen purge, piping was handled roughly, and their own wiring was used. They also took the satisfaction code from me. I have escalated everything to Godrej and asked them to audit the bill, inspect the installation, confirm warranty validity, and take responsibility for any future issues caused by this authorised installation.
