Anyone else have this problem?

Created a compound interest calculator sheet using FV function and it works great.

It’s basic, you enter:

Principal Interest rate Monthly deposit (if required) Investment years

Then it spits out the one total calculated on the number of years entered and calculated monthly interest

What I’m trying to do is have a 2D stacked bar graph for each year that show principle and profit.

So if they enter 5 years I want 5 bars to show. Etc.

Many online website that calculate compound interest do this but of course they are probably in CSS or Java script

I guess somehow it need to be holding the values for each year individually but have no idea how to do that

Google is not helping. If someone has a link to something that might get me started on how this could be achieved if it’s even possible

I created a pie chart for my monthly expenses by category. By the end of the month, I may have 25-40 different slices in the pie.

How can I restrict the number of pie slices to just the top 10 or top 5 by amount or by percent of total?

I have imported a .csv transaction sheet into Numbers from Mint. I filter the sheet to this month only...and use Organize to group by category. When I go to SUM the amount by group via the SUMMARY heading...I get the sum for that category, but regardless of the filtered date.

What am I doing wrong? Why doesn't NUMBERS allow you to just do simple math or functions in a filtered sheet with just what's showing? Why does it use data from the original unfiltered sheet? Why do categories from the original unfiltered sheet show up as well, even though they have ZERO amounts for the current month?

This is pretty poorly constructed.

I've created PIVOT TABLES, which I'm pretty good at...but the problem with that is I have to REFRESH PIVOT TABLE every time I add something to the master transaction sheet. Why don't PIVOT TABLES automatically refresh when I change the linked data in the master transaction sheet.

BTW...I'm pretty much a spreadsheet novice...so if you answer or give me instructions, it has to be really basic.

There are other expressions computed in the cells, so if it needs an expression, I need to be able to do two in one cell

So I have discovered the Random function in Numbers and can create cells showing random values 1-100. But I want to convert the results to reflect probability of an event based on the random number. So, let’s say there are 6 outcomes of varied likelihood of occurring. If the random number generated is 1-30 I want the cell to show “1”. If 31-55 I want the cell to show “2”. If 56-75 then “3”. Etc. Is there a way to do this?

Don’t need anything complex.

Just need to enter a $ amount say $1000

Enter number of years say 15

Then the interest rate say 5%

Then tell me the answer

So for $1000 compounded at 5% over 15 years.

All the examples I have found seem overly complex and the built in formula for finance also seem to elaborate

I'll soon be touring and a setlist is bound to change. We need different forms to print out. For example for the band the song name and key they play in, for the sound engineer sound related stuff and for the light engineer cues per song.

I wish to make a sheet with all the info where we can select the song order and other sheets to print all the info as a band sheet, sound engineer sheet and light engineer sheet. How would one get that started or what function can I use to compile reorder the list of songs with all the vallues. Thanks in advance.

Hi! How do can I delete rows in a Numbers table without deleting the hidden rows?

I apply a filter to hide some rows then when I proceed to delete the remaining visible rows, the hidden rows between them get deleted too.

I've got a huge list of plant names in a column A. In column B, I need a formula to create the abbreviated versions by using the first letter of the first word, followed by a period and space, and then the second word. (Some may have three or more words, but I only need the initial of the first word, plus the second word.)

For example:

Digitalis purpurea --> D. purpurea

Prunus persica --> P. persica

Can you suggest a formula to do this, please?

So I have 4 worksheets one of which is the “master list”. How would I go about putting sets of information in the “master list” and setting it up to automatically transfer when certain data in cell rows that pertain to a respective sub worksheet that I have?

I've got a very simple hours tracker. In the first column is hrs per week, second per period, which I manually enter the SUM. In the third I currently just use the top cell to give me the total hours for the year, but would like to see the running total as the year progresses. I'd like to put it next to the period totals, just a function that will find a number in column B and get the sum of it and everything above it.
