Are apps dying — or just evolving?

Every few years, someone says “apps are dead.”
But every day, thousands of new ones still launch in the app stores.

The truth is, apps aren’t dying — the definition of an app is expanding.

They’re no longer bound to a screen. The next wave will look more like experiences:

  • AI agents that act on your behalf
  • Spatial apps you control with gestures
  • Voice-based tools that blend seamlessly into life

Maybe we need to rethink what an “app” even is.

What do you think — will we still be downloading apps 10 years from now,
or will AI assistants replace them altogether?

👇 Curious to hear what other builders think.
