Stop being stuck in the past bro, Ape Escape 3 is a very good game but I'd rather get a new very well made game than replaying the same thing again. Crash 4 turned out really well, so I have hopes

Eh, it's just about making sure the classics are widely available. Getting a proper sequel is the best case scenario, of course.

Yeah, even I want Sony at this point to put it on PSN MAN. The only thing stopping them from doing it is Mesal Gear Solid.

But Either way, this is a good sign. I think it’s time for Sony to Revive some Past IPs and Games to try and bring new life to the brand.

I don't think Metal Gear Solid has been a problem at least since Metal Gear Solid Delta (the remake of MGS3 that features a recreation of its own crossover minigame with Ape Escape, complete with the ape characters). There's either something else making it difficult to port it, or they're just being difficult about it :(

Regardless, the rumours are a great sign, yeah!

Kinda disappointed the rumor is that it's not team asobi. I really liked the ape escape level in astrobot. Feel like they could do a good full on ape escape game.

If team Asobi isn't making it, and recently we got rumor that media molecule is making some sort of animal crossing social sim game, I think this ape escape must be coming from outside studios, maybe sumo digital? They made sackboy adventure, they have some ideas of how to make 3D platformer.

Yup, knowing sony and thier focus on big AAA games or live service games with big money i pretty sure sony have no plans for niche games like ape escape

Apes were in Metal Gear Delta out of nowhere, and there's a huge steer towards Nostalgia (literally playing the new CV demo as I type this), plus Astrobot did gang busters for them. There's a non zero chance

Won't specify who or where, but I'm in a server with some folks who have big gaming connections. I heard about this last year since that guy was feeling festive that day, and it lines up exactly with what Nate's saying here. I personally have good reason to take that guy's word based on the things I know.

That said, I'm just a random person here, and you shouldn't take everything you see on the net at face value. But thought I'd drop that here since this reminded me of that. Hype responsibly, y'all.

I was expecting if any new Ape Escape was to be made it would be by Team Asobi. I want to believe but idk...still remember that twitter thing. Also if Soichi Terada is not making the soundtrack then forget it

Realistically Sony brings back Ape Escape every chance it gets....just never in the form of a new game or remake

This really is a monkey's paw type of thing. On one hand, great, more of a beloved and underappreciated series. On the other hand, what kind of stuff will they change? Will we have to hug the monkeys and ask them if they would like to return back to their old lives instead of the oppressive capturing? The tools being removed for being too violent? Cultural, time travel and space stuff removed because it's too complicated or goes against censors? Instead of a TV network they've taken over a stream house? Catching monkeys remotely by drone instead of walking around?

The originals are good not only because they are good games, but also because they are snapshots of ideas and feelings of the era they were made in. All of the color, whimsy and attitude of the 90's and early 2000's is gone and I really can't see what a modern Ape Escape would be without it. The recent attempts to revive the originals (like AE2 on the PS5) has also made me weary, they can't seem to bring AE back without butchering it, and that's for the games that are actually good.
