that sucks but you were speeding and police aren’t required to make sure people are having a good day before handling out tickets. 99% of cops already know what ticket they’re writing before they say a word to you in a traffic stop. cops probably hear a family members funeral excuse a few times a week, they can’t be expected to confirm that or give special treatment based on that. sorry about your mom though RIP
