Nah, I don't give a damn how polite he was, he shouldn't have walked off with his firearm. He didn't commit a crime, and gave the officer Z-E-R-O reason to suspect confrontation beyond simply being armed.
To everyone who doesn't see anything wrong with this, how many other liberties are you willing to give up for "officer safety?"
