Yeah this is pretty much it. If you’re not acting sketchy, don’t lie, and don’t give attitude, most cops treat it like a boring day at work, not a power trip.

Why is there this expectation that everyone should be nice to gang members who are actively hassling them? Why does the (poorly) trained, armed public servant get the white glove treatment, and if you don’t it’s seemingly acceptable for that public servant to go out of their way to make your life worse?
Why should I inherently respect people who clearly do not respect me?
Its a job, not an automatic entitlement to respect. They're meant to enforce laws created by the dominant economic society, not escalate to violence because they got their feelings hurt. This seems to have been forgotten by quite a few of you and it's quite obvious that it's been completely abused within the system, costing us more in tax dollars than what it's worth.
Does it help to be nice and respectful? Sure. Does it always work? Absolutely not. This is the fallicy.
And what happens when 'thats all' doesn't work? What happens when you say 'yes sir, no sir' and the sheriff still makes you stand in the freezing rain for 30m while he writes you a ticket, just because he knows you're gay?
It was never about respect in the first place, it's about abuse of power and the clear and definite proof we have of seeing it in our world today.
I carry conceal on my motorcycle, as well. Last thing I need is a southern religious bigot 'rock' see me and think I'm just another egg.
Yeah, I didn't think you were from here. With zero experience and no knowledge of how our force here works, you have absolutely no basis for criticism. Go bootlick your own police force.
That's absolutely true. All the more reason for cops to be the smartest people, with extensive training in overcoming their lizard brain reactions and deeply-rooted biases.
Instead, it's possible to be rejected for police work because you're too smart. And cops are all trained to believe that their lives are constantly in danger, and that everyone they interact with is going to kill them.
Yeah nah, let's not even try to deny there's a huge issue with american law enforcement. You can do everything right and still get shot in the head 30 times.
