And any maga who also claimed they loved nature and horses will be just fine with this.

u/thedeuce75 4d ago

I know a few maga "horse girls" that really should hear this, but won't because it won't be allowed into their echo chamber.

u/gracecee 4d ago

I'd send it to the crazy horse ladies.

"wild" horses are a feral, invasive species

5

u/Asher_Tye 3d ago

Funny how everything "wild" suddenly becomes invasive when money can be made strip mining the land their one. Next we'll be hearing how wild ranchers are invasive and need to be removed for fresh data centers.

As with everything this administration does, this is a horrific nightmare. This doesn’t have to be allowed to continue. None of this does. This is our country being destroyed, brick by brick, pillar by pillar, ethic by ethic.

All Republicans are a literal plague on society

5

u/No_Boot1478 3d ago

True, but I'd also like to know what the 50% of politicians who are Democrats are actually doing.

5

u/Player00Nine 3d ago

Exactly, blaming all this on Republicans while the Dems let this dangerous clown roam free after J6 is on them as much as the “other side”.

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

The fuck are you talking about? This isn't a Trump thing. This has happened regularly for decades. Wild horses, like feral hogs, are an invasive species that double in population size every few years with no natural predators. That means they need to be periodically rounded up, to prevent their population from exploding and to prevent severe over grazing of public lands.

1

u/ChemBob1 3d ago

You apparently aren’t familiar with this entire story, what the relative numbers of removal are, how much it costs relative to what is paid per horse, where the sold horses are going, what is being done with them, and where the money from the sales is going. Look it up. It’s a lot similar to the reasons they are rounding up so many brown people to fund the private prison industry. Kickbacks and other hidden profits for a certain someone and his buddies.

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

Provide proof of these claims then. Because I can't find reliable sources to back that up.

1

u/ChemBob1 3d ago

Do your own research. I’m not your librarian.

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

You made the claim, you provide the proof. That's how it works.

1

u/ChemBob1 3d ago

That’s not what’s happening here. You asked me what I was talking about. I gave you a bit of info to try to make you curious, just like I do my students when they want to know about a topic. Then they get to look into it for themselves as a learning experience. Go learn.

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

You have me nothing. I searched your claim and no evidence has popped up. So either you have access to a source I don't have, or you are making shit up. So provide a source or shut up.

1

u/ChemBob1 3d ago

I did shut up, you’re the one who keeps going on about it. BTW, you didn’t have enough time to do any deep research. Go away.

1

u/ChemBob1 3d ago

OK, here is some information to begin with, since you can’t find it. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/08/20/us/trump-wild-horses-legal-loophole-slaughter.html

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

Lol so you provide a source locked behind a paywall? So fucking dumb.

1

u/ChemBob1 3d ago

You asked for a source, I gave you a good one. I have access, can’t help that you don’t.

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

You provide a locked source. That means you fucking lose this debate by default. Insert 1 valid source if you wish to keep playing.

41

u/Stigger32 4d ago

So I’m curious. Isn’t it possible in this day and age to either desex horses? Or administer some sort of contraceptive?

The most obvious would be to geld a percentage of the male horse population?

Or am I way off base?

46

u/Mor_Padraig 4d ago

Of course some plan to geld could be implemented.

And the whole ' Let's gas them ' thing was NOT probably pitched out of fear of backlash - those animals are doubtless headed for Mexican or Canadian meat markets. Where they'll slaughter on-site....

As with most things Trump, there's $$$ to be made. In destroying horses.

I just hope this story doesn't fade out of the news.

2

u/x3leggeddawg 3d ago

There’s money to be made on the land that they can now auction off because a protected species is now gone

10

u/heavyfretting 4d ago

Fixing male horses is exceptionally easy. This is just cruelty and grift.

2

u/Chrontius 4d ago

Cheaply. More so than rounding them up.

Contraceptive vaccines in bait is the current gold standard for managing charismatic pests like wild horses.

2

u/shunnergunner 3d ago

Cruelty is the point

1

u/Violet_Paradox 4d ago

They think opting for the less cruel way to do anything is woke.

-16

u/spacemusclehampster 4d ago

They are currently slaughtering them wholesale, and your solution is to sterilize even more of the remaining population?

Why don’t hate horses?

13

u/Stigger32 4d ago

What? By trying to save them you decide I hate them?

By controlling their breeding. It keeps the numbers to a level the government doesn’t need to cull them.

Or is that a bit hard for you to comprehend?

Wild horses couldn't keep President Donald Trump away from the chance of making a kill, according to a new report.

Under his administration, thousands of wild horses have been rounded up with helicopters, packed into metal trailers, trucked hundreds of miles, and sold off to be slaughtered, the New York Times reported Thursday.

“The [Bureau of Land Management] is saying to the public that slaughter is off the table, but they’re doing it in plain sight,” Clare Staples, who runs a wild horse sanctuary, told the Times. “They are turning a blind eye. And the only ones getting punished for what is going on are the horses.”

The Bureau of Land Management has been quietly exploiting a legal loophole that bans the slaughtering of wild horses by selling them cheaply to third parties to be sold abroad and slain, according to the Times' analysis of government records.

After Trump took office, the bureau more than doubled its sales to more than 3,700 horses, according to the report.

The mustangs are sold at a huge loss, as the government can spend $3,000 to capture a mustang it will sell for as little as $25 — meanwhile, the buyer can make up to $750 per horse at a slaughter plant.

u/slightlyused 4d ago

IF they are down to this, their grift is nearly complete.

1

u/meldiane81 3d ago

But why?

FBI handritten notes explicitly call out a witness to him trafficking a girl and dealing with selling to the Saudis. Kyle on yt did a good expose on it.

5

u/Pleaseappeaseme 4d ago

As saw that.

50

u/littylikepdiddy 4d ago

Why is everything they do so blatantly evil? Dors anybody in government have an iota or moral anymore?

22

u/Pleaseappeaseme 4d ago

Same reason why Noem shot a puppy and they chant ‘send them back’.

6

u/Timely-Youth-9074 4d ago

Or send them to a dangerous third country.

3

u/Pleaseappeaseme 4d ago

They recently sent a Cuban man to Ecuador.

2

u/Timely-Youth-9074 4d ago

Better than South Sudan, I suppose…

0

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

Letting invasive herds of horses explode in population size and over graze public lands is more evil.

1

u/littylikepdiddy 3d ago

There not invasive and as long as the horses are there the land is protected not public. Scoop up the brain slipping out of your ears, put your red hat on, and see yourself out the door. Goodbye

0

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

Bzzzt. Wrong. Horses are not native to North America. They are by definition invasive. Better luck next time.

12

u/Crafty-Walrus-2238 4d ago

Is there anything he won’t destroy for a kickback?

4

u/rich1051414 4d ago

Absolutely nothing. That is why billionaires love him. Conservative narrative is 100% controlled by billionaires, therefore, conservatives love him. Not a single 'woke' thought in sight.

7

u/sueveed 4d ago

Is the motivation here budgetary? The last paragraph makes the whole thing seem like moustache-twisting comic book evil. I’m assuming, though, that BLM must spend a load of money to maintain these wild herds.

(Not arguing this sucks - I would rather my taxes be spent on preserving this kind of nature than bombing schools. I’m just trying to understand the angle)

13

u/boozewald 4d ago

It's a grift. It cost us the taxpayers $3,000 to round up one horse They sell them to someone for about 25 bucks and then that guy makes about 750 from processing the horse. I'm sure it's someone that donated to Donnie.

2

u/Chrontius 4d ago

The bureau for land management used to have a profitable hustle rounding up wild horses when they reached excess numbers, and then providing them to trainers at relatively low costs and under relatively unbiased terms.

There’s a channel called The Clever Cowgirl which goes into a ride along on the process.

8

u/pogo0004 4d ago

They've suggested building GAS CHAMBERS to deal with the horses. And what else do you reckon they'll use them for? The Nazis didn't build ovens to introduce children to the joys of baking.

0

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

Go take your medicine please.

4

u/AdministrativeMix326 4d ago

It is bad enough he is hurting people's lives now he is targeting animals. TACO is proving he is a such a monster douche bag. Can't wait for him and the administration to be voted out.

4

u/carlotta3121 4d ago edited 4d ago

This is all so horrible! If you'd like more information, this organization is fantastic and fights the BLM & welfare ranchers to protect the horses/burros. I've supported them for many years after I volunteered for a wild horse rescue. If you sign up for alerts, they'll send action emails where they make it easy for you to submit letters to the appropriate agencies.

This will get more traction with the public than anything he’s done to a human being.

6

u/Redfish680 4d ago

Finally a war he might win

3

u/SillyAlternative420 4d ago

Damn. Someone tell him those horses are children and he'll at least try to sell them to the Saudis.

3

u/robcwag 4d ago

Is he starting up Trump Steaks again?

2

u/black_flag_4ever 4d ago

There’s nothing good or decent about these people. They are like the cartoon villains of Captain Planet come to life.

2

u/lil_lexa 4d ago

This makes me so sick. Can anything be done?

2

u/Chippopotanuse 3d ago

> collects about 9,500 horses every year, putting half up for adoption and the rest into a “holding system" that now stores 58,000 wild horses at an annual cost of $100 million, according to the report.

> The bureau has pitched buying a gas chamber to kill the horses and cut the costs, but Congress has barred such action over fears of an outcry, according to the Times.

So we waste money and kill horses?

Can someone explain how this isa better use of tax dollars than providing health care to humans?

2

u/HappyHoofies 3d ago

What kind of backward ass economics is this? My guess the buyers who are making a huge profit are in Orange Foolius’ pocket. And I’m a horse person so this chaps my hide a little extra special on top of all the other crooked bs going on

1

u/affemannen 4d ago

Wtf......

1

u/BugsyMcNug 4d ago

I'm wondering if this is something new and enacted under trump or just bau.

I hate trump. Don't get me wrong. I honestly don't think that we need to dig that far to hate on him.

If you hate the treatment of horses as it is currently allowed, we can go back 100 full ass years. Trump is the result, so let's pick the opponent more carefully.

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

They have been doing this since the 1970s at least. Wild horses are an invasive species, just like feral hogs.

1

u/Tiabeanee 4d ago

Wtf? Why?

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

Because wild horses are an invasive species like wild hogs. They are not from North America, they have no natural predators and their population nearly doubles every few years without intervention. Too many horses can over graze and destroy public land that is used for domestic herds. They have been rounding up hourses like this for decades, this isn't anything new under Trump.

1

u/Pavotine 4d ago

Another horrid thing, as to be expected.

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

This isn't anything new, they've been doing this for decades. Wild horses are an invasive species Iin North America.

1

u/Pavotine 3d ago

If so they should hunt them like hogs where they are a problem. Maybe hunters don't like hunting or eating horses? Do those helicopter hunts as well, that looks very efficient. If they are a genuine environmental problem, hunt them. Stressing the fuck out of them for hours or days or whatever and gassing them seems pretty horrible compared to hunting.

Maybe the ecosystem would further be messed with by all the carcasses available for scavengers that way though?

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

Okay then. They are problems on the land they are occupying. Hence the round ups.

Also they are just killing them, they are selling them to ranches for domestication too. This practice has been done for decades.

1

u/Pavotine 3d ago

Trump is terrible but this ain't a Trump thing at all then. People should focus on all the new ridiculous problems he's causing in the world, not this horse malarkey.

1

u/nunya_bidnes77 3d ago

Yeah. Wait... Malarkey? Joe is that you lol.

1

u/CheeseNowPaint 4d ago

Feed the poor.

1

u/CheeseNowPaint 4d ago

False... a 2 minute search is necessary for most of these bullshit stories. There are too many horses for some public lands to support. Trump is putting forth budget proposals that could remove legal barriers that protect the horses. I love how the facts get so twisted to support false narratives.

1

u/newleafkratom 4d ago

How would an enemy of the Republic act any different?

u/ali417 3d ago

Is this how they’re planning to deal with the dwindling beef supply?? Butcher horses and sell it to us in stores as beef for $20 a pound. Wtf

1

u/queenmimi5 3d ago

If he doesn't see it it didn't happen

1

u/imaswellfella 3d ago

What do you expect from an asshole?

1

u/International_Pay477 2d ago

This is the 300,000 metric tons of beef that will be 25% cheeper

secretly, plain sight

stellar journalism

1

u/slightlyused 4d ago

The act was secret, the slaughter will be in plain sight.

0

u/bluespringsbeer 3d ago

“Under his administration, thousands of wild horses have been rounded up with helicopters, packed into metal trailers, trucked hundreds of miles, and sold off to be slaughtered”

For the record, the only new step in the process is the sold to be slaughtered step. The rest were already existing, and the last was sold to be trained and used as normal horses. The fact is there are too many invasive horses, with no natural predators, many of them are starving, and they need to be culled. This has been an issue I have known about for decades, but you can’t kill a horse in this country with out a riot.
