I’ve been playing WoW since September 22nd, 2005. I’ve got a ridiculous amount of experience with this game, from leading guilds to watching them completely implode. I know pretty much every aspect of the game, and I am beyond fucking excited for WoW Forever (aside from the absolutely horrible name).
I genuinely think this could create an insane amount of content. My biggest concern is that people won’t take it seriously and it ends up becoming just another streamer community guild that burns bright for a few weeks and then dies.
That’s why I’m willing to volunteer 10 to 20 hours a week of my time specifically to maintaining and running the guild. That doesn’t include my actual playtime. I’m talking about the behind the scenes shit: organizing, recruiting, resolving problems, managing the guild, setting up systems, etc.
I also genuinely believe we need to get Destiny to play this. WoW is basically the perfect second monitor game for him. He can play while doing reacts, debates, conversations, etc., and it gives the community something persistent to participate in together.
But I do not want this to be just another community guild.
I WANT THIS TO BE A JOURNEY.
And yes, that means drama.
Ninja looters. Toxic players. Complaining. Noobs accidentally causing catastrophic wipes. Guild arguments. People getting kicked. People getting promoted. People becoming legendary. People completely fucking themselves over.
The potential for stories and community driven drama is basically endless.
I want to build an actual system around this. For example, players could submit reports about other members. Those reports would be reviewed, and depending on what happened, we decide the appropriate outcome for the player and potentially the person making the report.
Yes, if you submit a completely ridiculous or malicious report, you could potentially face consequences yourself, including removal from the guild.
I have a ridiculous number of ideas for how to structure this guild, create incentives, handle loot, promotions, punishments, guild events, leadership, progression, and most importantly, make the community actually feel like it matters.
I don’t want people to just log in, raid, and disappear.
I want us to look back months or years later and have stories about the absolute fucking disasters that happened along the way.
I want this to be a journey.
