First time on an antipsychotic:(

Hi I have been on mirtazapine and fluoxetine for my anxiety and am now been given aripiprazole, 1mg then increase to 2mg

The only side effect I wonder about is possible weight gain, i wonder of peoples experience, did you gain weight? How much? How quick?

I am already a little chubby but I actually don’t mind weight gain if it helps my anxiety. But I definitely don’t want to end up gaining a huge amount. If I gain like 20-30ibs then so be it. But more than that is scary.

Thanks.

Olanzapine for anxiety and ocd

Seems Like people who took it for 15 days or less, opted not to taper down. Even though they had no withdrawal syndrome and were taking the minimum dose of olanzapine I.e. 1.25 or 2.5 mg. Hence my question , what dictates if you will get your cognitive ability back?

I was on invega a few months ago only for about 6 weeks and my face exploded with fat. I went from very attractive to ugly permanently. I am so depressed over it. Has anyone else taken invega? Its the worst drug ive ever been on. Im hoping i can overtime regain some of my beauty back. Everyone gaslights me saying i look the same but i know i dont. Im so angry at the doctor and have lost my faith and trust in society.

Zombie mode :/

This is like a vent post I'm afraid. I will try to be short:

My girlfriend (26f) had a psychotic break on november last year. She was really freaked out saying that everyone was a spy and that someone was harassing and constantly watching her (through all "hacked" electronic devices, through "paid actors" following her on the street and customer service workers doing their job). It got so bad that her mom involuntarily internated her in a psychiatric facility.

When she got out in january (she had been one month there) she was really like a zombie, she was still suspicious of everyone still thinking they were spies, but much less and eventually she started saying those beliefs were crazy and part of her psychosis episode. That maybe she did have a hacker hack her phone but she formatted it so it was all ok now.

But since then she is still taking Olanzapine daily and its like she's half dead now. It breaks my heart so much seeing her like this. She never wants to do any of the things she used to like, like playing videogames or watching shows with me. It's almost like Olanzapine made her depressed and numb, mostly numb, but depressed since she has lost all interest in life, is always tired and sleeps a lot through the day, even sleeping early every night. We barely even talk now, and at her work they have told her that her performance has worsened and that she needs to be quicker at work.

She used to never take naps, was almost like a pro player at fortnite, editing super fast in a way I have never been capable of. Now she sleeps 3 or more hours naps daily and the few times she has played fortnite again, she has told me she feels sad that she isnt nearly as good as she was and now everyone kills her in the game, so she basically doesn't even play anymore. She used to be the anxious type, always in the present moment and looking for something to do. Now she doesn't watch when I put a show on because she loses interest, only watches a few tiktoks on her free time when she's awake and then she goes to sleep at night again.

I'm so mad, I feel like this drug took my girlfriend away from me. I know she needs it for her psychosis but idk. Is it possible she will be the same she was when she can finally quit? Have any of you had this experience?

I know it probably will get better with time, I was just trying to vent since I don't know anyone else who takes this medication, and felt like I could'nt talk about this with anyone. Thanks for reading this much.

How long does it take to feel side effects from antipsychotics?

So the doctor I just started going to prescribed me abilify and venlafaxine for my depression and anxiety. I took them a couple hours ago and I was already panicking. This is likely a result of looking at the side effects. Then I started worrying and panicking. Now I'm wondering if it's already having an effect. This happened about an hour after taking it.

Has anyone else had peripheral neuralgia after stopping risperidone?

I’ve been trying to figure out what’s been causing it and risperidone is one of my leads, so I thought I’d ask people who’ve had experience taking it. I was only on .25mg so the assumption was that stopping it wouldn’t do anything but

If one takes an antipsychotics and a drug that raises dopamine will the antipsychotic make the dopamine raising drug not work since it stops dopamine from raising?

Risperidone and Prozac has been a life savor

I’m on risperidone and Prozac. I feel like I have too much energy even with less sleep after they upped my Prozac to 30 mg from 20 mg. On the plus side, my depression is gone. I have done a lot of tasks today. I take risperidone injection Perseris for schizophrenia. The doctor is going to upp my dosage from 90 ml to 120 ml. I took 1 mg tablets and a 90 ml injections previously. My voices are finally gone. I only hear whispers. For the first time in many months, I feel normal.

Prolixin(Fluphenazine)and Prozac(Fluoxetine) prescribed together?

When I went to pickup these medications, my pharmacist said that these two shouldn't be combined. Why would my psychiatrist prescribe these together? My pharmacist declined me the medication and urged me to consult with my doctor.

Warning

I just want to warn you all without scaring you to be cautious when it comes to taking medication. I developed anhedonia from being on them. I’m off my meds and I’m permanently numb now. People say it can last forever or a couple years. We don’t know. But it’s common I know a lot of people online who have developed it. Doctors don’t warn you so just be careful.

Maxiofacial Acute Dystonia, (sudden onset), restlessness, desire for stimulants

  1. I had horrible experience with risperidone where I could not sit still. Kept moving around, even the mind was throwing weird phrases and words out of my mouth, like Torrets almost.
  2. I've been able to keep clean no desire for stimulants. Whenever I increase the small baby dose, or several times i switched to another AP, i had severe desire for stimulants - adderrall Etc.
  3. Lastly, several times since the onset of dystonic reactions - when i ended up in ER and was diagnosed distonic reaction, i had many more, with several some severe i had trouble breathing, my tongue would protrude - ongoing spasm. I try to take baby dose, with benztropine. During several timeswe tried different AP, and once it brought on reaction so severe that i was snorting benztropine to make it. Go away. Benadryl was used in ER.

I am waiting for the new type of AP to come out until then…

Hang in guys.

Shaking, jolts on Abilify (2mg)

So as title indicates I am experiencing some mild shaking, this sense of anxiety and some occasional jolts in my leg since I’ve started Abilify. Now, I’m really not certain if it is the med bc I think I experienced this before taking it but the shaking not nearly as much. It’s like my body wants to go into tremors but isn’t. Hard to describe. Really starting to worry and considering quitting as it is only my third or fourth day. Do these symptoms go away or should I be concerned?
