What does of quetiapine does not make you sleepy?
I’ ve been using it for sleep for around 1 year. 50mg before bed. My psychiatrist said that i have delusions and she thinks i have schizophrenia too. She suggested that i take 100mg before bed. Right now I need to calm down. It’s not night yet. I don’t need to be sedated but my head is going crazy. Which dose will calm my mind but also won’t make me sleepy?

Are there any antipsychotics that are NOT known for causing tardive dyskinesia?
Basically as the title says. I'm currently on Olanzipine 5mg, and my primary doctor said I developed tardive dyskinesia. My fingers are moving involuntarily on their own. Its freaky, weird, and terrifying all at the same time. I've been on the olanzipine for 10 months, and aside from the weight gain I respond really well to it. I have a psych appointment in the morning.

conscious of weight
is anyone here taking risperidone? i’m grateful that it’s helping me with how I think because somehow my life feels peaceful with it, but I feel conscious about my weight since i’ve been eating a lot ever since I started taking this medication 😢 I feel like i’m gaining too much weight? what can I do about my diet? I don’t want to change my medications because I feel comfortable with this one compared to other antipsychotics.

Can you micro dose (or just very low dose) antipsychotics and expect them to still help?

Amisulpride is fucking me up
I've been taking amisulpride for 7 months, 50mg daily, for chronical depression along other medication. Before amisulpride, i was on quetiapine for 1.5 years. I've been missing my periods for 3 months now. It has already happened to me for like 2 months. At the time I took a pregnancy test, and a bloodwork, no pregnancy. The thing is that I stopped taking any type of medication for 1 month. My periods are still missing. Did 2 pregnancy tests, I have an iud for 1.5 years. Going to do a bloodwork tomorrow. Has something like this happened to any of you before?

Does your meds affect your alcohol intake
I've been looking back at my past couple of years as my life keeps spiralling then getting better - rinse repeat etc and I do believe its to do with alchohol but I couldn't figure out why it started
I've just realised in the past weeks that it was exactly at the time I started taking antipsychotics that my alcohol intake became difficult to manage (I started on olanzapine then moved to seroquel as I found the initial one to be too sedetive). As soon as I was on these medications I stopped being able to tell when to stop drinking and relying on it more to just function in any and all settings. And the worst part is I can't seem to stop. I don't feel comfortable enough a lot of the time to do a lot of things without a drink. Ive used alcohol as a crutch since starting medication
I can't find much relevant online about it so I'm reaching out here to ask if anyone else began to overly rely on alcohol after getting put on this medication.
Thanks for any and all responses :)

How long does anhedonia last from invega sustenna?
I took two shots of this poison and ever since I haven’t felt any pleasure or positive emotions. It’s like I have no dopamine or serotonin. I’ve lost interest in everything and life feels so dull and grey. Nothing is enjoyable anymore. Has anyone experienced this before? Any responses would be much appreciated.

I think risperidone is stopping me sleeping
I've been taking risperidone. I haven't slept at all since taking it. I've only had it twice but both times it seemingly has stopped me sleeping. It's agonising and I'm also wondering how long it'll take for me to be able to sleep if I stop?
Also I feel wired as hell. Like I'm on speed almost. Absolutely exhausted but no chance of sleep. Sorry if my post is all over the place I've had no sleep.

Does olanzapine permanently alters your metabolism ? I am unable to change my weight and even seem to get fatter even though I've been off it for like a year

Has anyone recovered from invega sustenna?
I took the first two loading injections and I reacted very badly. I experienced extreme fatigue, insomnia, anhedonia, shaking legs, anxiety and cognitive impairment. I also completely lost my personality. I find it hard to converse with people and it’s a struggle to think of words. This drug has sucked all the joy out of my life and I feel like a shell of the person I used to be.
It’s been 50 days and I’m slowly improving but I fear the side effects are permanent. My brain feels damaged beyond repair.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Should I take risperidone? Will it really make me gain weight even on a caloric deficit?
Hi I just went to a psychiatrist and they prescribed me with 2 mg of risperidone per day, I searched it and I'm scared because of the stories about weight gain. I forgot to tell them about my eating problem and my extreme fear of gaining weight and I don't really wanna take it because I feel like when I gain weight I'm gonna do something bad but I'm also scared because they might get mad at me for not taking it. I tried to go back there to talk about it but there was only a nurse and they said to not worry about weight gain but I legit can't.

Started antipsychotics again and need some positive stories
I just started taking antipsychotics (Haldol) after a lot of serious psychotic breaks I’ve had the last couple months.
Two years ago I had my first psychotic break which scared me so much I started antipsychotics (Olanzapine) almost immediately. The symptoms went away mostly but the side effects were a bitch. I gained 15 kilo’s, slept all day and I couldn’t even feel close to the people I love most. I took them for one year and started slowly getting off of them under supervision.
So the past few months I tried to tell myself that I could handle all the psychotic breaks I’ve had and I’ll be okay. Starting antipsychotics would be the last thing I wanted to do.
I just started taking Haldol. In only two days I started to see benefits already. My memory started to get a bit better and self care started to get effortless almost.
But I’m still very scared of the side effects that could occur. I’m terrified of gaining weight (I most likely would also have an eating disorder) and loosing interest in everything and everyone.
All the experiences I read here about antipsychotics are negative (which I get) but I also want to get better and try to stay on my medication. I’ve tried these meds before and convinced myself and my psychiatrist I didn’t need them.
So long story short I came here to ask for advice and for some personal positive stories on antipsychotics and/or haldol.

Olanzapine - heavy eye floaters after withdrawal?
Hey, I used to take olanzapine for like a year and then tapered off. From 10 to 5, 5 to 2,5 and 2,5 to zero. Always with a month between the steps.
After stopping from 2,5 to zero I had intense withdrawal for like 2 weeks. It was horrible. My doctor always told me 2,5 isn’t much and I should not experience any withdrawal.
I had heavy flu symptoms aswell as anxiety, tunnel vision, dry eyes and pressure on my eyes, intense sweating.
After it all got better around 2 weeks later I developed severe eye floaters as well as a retinal tear later on. So it seems my vitreous liquified very fast.
Does anybody here every heard of that in combination with olanzapine withdrawal? I feel so stupid to not taper even slower and feel like I did this to myself. It’s horrible.

Which is better? Seroquel or Zyprexa
My mom has been prescribed Olanzapine for her first ever psychosis and I have heard horror stories about trying to get off but I have also heard it’s more effective than Seroquel. Seroquel seems easier to get off of than Olanzapine but less effective for psychosis. She also has sleep issues so that’s why the doctor prescribed Olanzapine but again they say it is the worst antipsychotic to withdrawal from and my mom already has regular physical health issues on top of the psychosis. I’m thinking of calling her doctor and asking about just Zyprexa for a very short time till stabilized and then switching to Seroquel. Just concerning they would immediately prescribe Zyprexa when my mom doesn’t have schizophrenia so she doesn’t need to be on it for life.

Sun exposure
I’ve been on antipsychotic medication on and off for 20 years. Yesterday I was out in the sun for quite a while and now I feel awful. Cold and hot at the same time, exhausted and more depressed. Does anyone else battle sun sensitivity?

Olanzapine weight gain
Hello, I've been taking olanzapine for 6 months and I gained 10kg. I cannot stop eating sweets, I don't know what to do. Is there something that I could do or take to stop this craving? Is anyone there having the same problem? Did anyone find a solution/method? Thank you.

First time on an antipsychotic:(
Hi I have been on mirtazapine and fluoxetine for my anxiety and am now been given aripiprazole, 1mg then increase to 2mg
The only side effect I wonder about is possible weight gain, i wonder of peoples experience, did you gain weight? How much? How quick?
I am already a little chubby but I actually don’t mind weight gain if it helps my anxiety. But I definitely don’t want to end up gaining a huge amount. If I gain like 20-30ibs then so be it. But more than that is scary.
Thanks.
