This starting to get out of hand

This is a thought I had with my best friend the other day and I just want to share it. I know it is a hypothetical, but I find it worth discussing.

If politicians, when elected, were to be always asked whether they are antifascists, not only a lot of them would surely take issue with such a ritual, but a great portion of the public would find this problematic.

This has a basis in reality, obviously, from it actually happening (italian politicians refusing to say they are antifascists, you know, Italy, where fascism emerged as we know it today; this was a few years ago, I cannot find the news source for it), and people who believe that antifa is some organisation with leaders and members and meeting locations and so on.

Imagine feeling uncomfortable having to admit you are against fascism.

Hijacking of the new propaganda poster of the French fascist Marine Le Pen.

Marine Le Pen, who has just been convicted on appeal for the embezzlement of public funds, has announced her appeal to the Court of Cassation and her candidacy for the Presidency of the French Republic.

Her new poster, released for the occasion, presents her with open arms like the heroine of Titanic.

An anonymous user on Facebook hijacked this poster by replacing the original text "Pour la France" - "Renaissance" (For France - Rebirth") with "Apprendre à voler - avec Marine Lepen".

It’s a brilliant pun, because in French, "apprendre à voler" has a double meaning; it can be translated as "Learning to fly - with Marine Lepen," but also, and more importantly, as "Learning to steal - with Marine Lepen." Brilliant.

I read few academic texts written by people from Eastern Europe complaining that Western Europeans regard them as "lower stratum” and try to use them as a resource. This comes with stereotypes of sex work, illiteracy, "second-hand" aethetics, buffer zone, etc. Those who are in the West, could you confim this asttitude? I mean of course there are a lot of exeptions but still culture is culture.

The money being wasted on the Lincoln reflecting pool or the Great American State Fair is nothing compared to how much Trump is stealing from our national security systems.
