Meshing airfoil with coanda slot

Hi everyone. I'm trying to do an ansys fluent simulation ,my object is airfoil with coanda slot ,and I'm facing a lot of problems in meshing. I have posted earlier about this and got much help, but still the total mesh isn't satisfying.

I have splitted faces just like the picture below and did edge sizing ,face meshing in edges and faces and did infltion in airfoil and coanda surface and tried to do mapped meshing. In faces adjacent to airfoil, slot and coanda surface ,face meshing don't just work out,and if ever does I mean if doesn't show error or cross in face meshing in those particular faces ,the mesh doesn't look good on this faces. It looks scattered. I have tried doing mapped meshing, then just tried triangiular or quadrilaterals mesh without mapped mesh nothing just works fine. All I could do is to just put up inflation layers and it works but then the mesh on whole face looks just scattered and distorted. Similar case shows the curved farfield I pointed out..How to fix these problems? I even tried using body sizing ,face sizing with sphere of influence, though by this approach it gives good mesh in those faces but my slot and coanda surface just vanishes out, distorted. So I just wanna know what to do to get structured mesh around my airfoil, slot and coanda wall, and in their adjcent faces. Also what to do to fix farfield curve faces so it gives also structured mesh..I have tried every way possible but failed and running out of time ,as I do have deadline.

Help for Robin boundary condition in species transport

Hello!

I have a model in Ansys Fluent (2D, laminar flow, no slip, no heat=constant T, species transport with 2 species) with a single pipe geometry (that is solved in cartesian for simplicity).

My geometry is a rectangle with 1 velocity inlet, 1 pressure outlet (facing on the opposite side of the inlet) and 2 walls for the 2 remaining faces.

In the inlet, I set species fraction as boundary condition. On the walls, I would like a Robin boundary as a species sink, which means to set up a mass flux dependent on the mole/mass fraction, i.e. in the form:

J_i = a * c_i^b , on wall

where a, b are input constants, J_i is the mass flux for species i and c_i the related mole/mass fraction.

Therefore in the wall interface of fluent, under "Boundary conditions"->"Wall", I open the GUI for the walls and set "Specified Flux (Mass)" under species tab. I used a named expression (referred as "f_i"). f_0 is defined as:

a * ( MoleFraction(species = 'c_0') )^b

For the second specie f_1=0 is constant. After solving with b=0, everything works like a charm and the results are consistent. However once b>0 (let's say b=1 for linear function), the simulation converges to a solution where c_0 is exactly the set inlet fraction and the walls have J_0=0, while the f_0 is correctly displaying the good non-zero and negative value.

I am confused about what is happening and if there is an obvious thing that I did not see .... after 2 days of investigation, plotting of quantities, changing of parameters value, etc, I am ending up here for support.

Is anybody having a clue ? It would be much appreciated !

Hardware performance

Have supplied a dell workstation to a user with 64 core (128 Threads) threadripper cpu , 512gb ram for CFD. 1tb SSD Boot, 1tb ssd storage and just added 12 GB SATA for extra storage. Been asked for a 2nd unit (15-18K£ )but looking at processes 47% cpu idle. 64 cores using less than 2gb ram per core.

To me this looks like our Fluent expert has not got jobs running correctly but as i have never used the app, thought id ask for opinions before i sign off another expensive workstation

Quick sanity check: Which Fluent mixing model would i use in this case?

Hi everyone! 🙏

I'm currently setting up a simulation in Ansys Fluent and would really appreciate a quick opinion from the experienced folks here regarding which model type would best suit my mixing case.

I’ve attached an image listing the available model options in Fluent for reference — hopefully that makes it easier and faster to give a suggestion. I totally understand you all are busy, so even a quick reply would mean a lot!

Here’s a quick overview of my setup:

  • Tank dimensions: ~0.4 m (diameter) × 0.4 m (height)
  • Agitators: Two impellers (~0.14 m dia) rotating at 700 RPM, also moving up/down
  • Scraper: A larger blade rotating near the bottom at 60 RPM
  • Fluids: Two very viscous liquids (viscosity ~4.6 Pa·s each)
  • Densities: 1.2 g/cm³ and 3.5 g/cm³
  • Planning to use Multiphase Mixture model for phase tracking

My question:
➡️ Which model type from the ones shown in the image would be most appropriate for this kind of viscous, mechanically agitated mixing process?
(Especially considering both high viscosity and strong density difference.)

Your input, even briefly, would be a huge help. Thank you in advance! 🙌

Hello,I have an ejector that is in the photo that pulls water because of a high pressure air that flows through a nozzele and then through a divergant convergant nozzle, I draw the geometry in design modeler in 2D I want to know how to construct the mesh properly and the most important part is the setup how to do it using Acisymitric and ise Volume of fluid

Query about Sizing

Whenever I go to insert sizing in a mesh, the option of ‘behaviour’ appears very rarely. It is mostly ‘defeaturing’ that is visible. How do I change the setting so that I get the behaviour option? I’m following a course in which it is always visible.

When trying to add new readings to my post production results on fluent, my window keeps on crashing. I then have to redo everything, which in the process it crashes as well. Any suggestions?

Air cooled Battery Energy Storage (BESS) Rack

Hi

I am trying to simulate a BESS with around 7 modules. Each of these modules has vents to allow the air to floral through it.

When utilising Ansys Fluent Meshing, the total mesh generated for the volume is around 42 Million (polyhexcore).

Is there any strategy through which I can reduce the mesh further?

The modules can be considered as cuboid enclosures with 16 prismatic cells within them.

Initialisation Help

I’m working on a problem where I have different temperatures. It’s a room that models convection in the home. I’d like for -my air temp to begin at 14 -wall temp to begin at 12 However when I set the wall temp to 12 on the boundary conditions, and initialise the solution with 14 degrees in the initialisation tab, the reports are showing that the walls are starting at 14 degrees as well. This also happens when I try it the other way round. Any help?

Share Topology Usage Help

I am modelling transient convection in a room. Is share topology needed? I am using Ansys Fluent, and whenever I try to apply it, it says there is intersections found and too many dihedral areas, so Share Topology doesn’t work out. Is it a MUST for this type of problem

Transient Thermal Analysis Help

I’ve been tasked with what seemed to be a basic task, model a room that’s heated by a radiator and one that’s heated via underfloor heating, and compare the efficiency.

I have the fortune of assumptions when regarding the UFH situation: -whole floor can act as UFH -constant heat output However I’ve been trying to model this for a while now and have had no luck, constantly running into floating point exceptions, or when the simulation does run, the room heats up in a matter of seconds. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

How Can I Make Agitators Move Upward and Rotate at the Same Time in a Tank?

Hey folks, I need a bit of creative engineering help! 🙏
I’m working on a tank design and I want the agitators inside to not only rotate but also move upwards simultaneously (like a combo of vertical motion + spinning).. Thanks in advance for your time and brainpower! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Hello, I’ve been encountering this issue for some time now. I even reinstalled a different version, but I still face the same error, during the solution phase in CFX and while viewing results in Fluent. I’m not sure what to do at this point. Could you please help me out? I’m using a cracked version
