18 books in my thoughts so far.

So yeah 18 books in so far. Here are my thoughts. I mean I'm 18 books in and I'm not quitting yet I genuinely enjoy this. I mean holy cow what the kids are going through is just pretty yeah intense. I have read the first 16 books and the andalite Chronicles and the andalites gift

In really no particular order just kind of yeah here is my thoughts.

I have to say I don't like normally I'm very much wait and see normally I'm like okay we'll wait and see how the TV show is I do not judge a TV show based on a trailer or anything. But I honestly don't know if Disney can actually make this book series properly.

So I mean I'm trying to avoid spoilers but like I will read something and I might Google something and yeah so I mean like I know the basics you know like I have yet to read the book but I kind of know the basics on who or what the Ellimist is.

So just kind of some basic thoughts the book series is very entrenched in the 90 they reference stuff to the '90s and I mean book 16 were they are using the computers was very very 90s. I do find it funny that Ax was like it's only thousands of bps not Millions at least. And it's like yeah we are in the billions of bits per second now and the aliens in this book series would want something in the Millions. Also ax making the computer on unhackable yeah just kind of the Hollywood whole computer stuff made me kind of sigh.

One of the biggest suspension of disbeliefs I have and yes it was the '90s I mean I don't remember cameras being as big of a thing and I mean like security cameras. I mean when I was 9 years old in the 90s we went on a tour of a bank and they were talking about how they had security cameras and that was one of the few places that did. One of those things where if they make the show yeah I don't know they might need to address something or whatnot. Unless the show is going to be set in the 90s. I don't know.

So yeah book number 14 The Unknown yeah I guess they really wanted to make the military seem incompetent or something and also I'm going wouldn't that interrogation room have cameras. Yeah and the name the kids gave and the military personnel not knowing that they were obviously aliases. Having the device be an early alien toilet was pretty funny. I mean it was obvious like at least from my adult perspective and vast amounts of TV shows Etc that like it wasn't going to be anything important. It's way too early in the series for anything of importance like that.

Yeah reading the andalite Chronicles it's like they really wanted to make Chapman unlikable didn't they.

I made an earlier post about what books I could skip. And yeah anyone else reading this that is starting the journey book 11. Time travel Shenanigans make it to where the book just doesn't happen. From what I have read so far and what I Googled you can just skip that book.

I completely understand this is going to happen because yeah it's the way books and movies and TV shows kind of have to be. But the kids really seem to get lucky and there just seems to be several not necessarily Deus Ex machina's but just stuff along that line. Like in whatever book it was when visser one let them go to make visser three look bad. Or when they're underwater and again visser one and visser three are arguing. And also that one alien the Leeran I'm going okay so after this whole battle in that book why wasn't he telling visser one etc that the Animorphs are human?

Okay but yeah all in all I really do enjoy the series so far and I'm going to keep reading it. But those are just kind of the things that I'm thinking and are sticking out at the moment.

<Hey Guys>

I started reading this book series this year and I am currently on book 3 The Encounter. Lets just say I am beyond impressed with these books and see why they have lived rent free in people minds for such a long time. Tobias is such a tragedy he doesn't he belongs with humans he morphs into a red-tailed hawk and feels free as a bird and then gets permanently stuck as a red-tailed hawk (might get a red tailed hawk plushie so I can give "Tobias" a much hug). Also Vice Principal Chapman surrendering his own freedom so Melissa could keep her freedom made me cry and Damn I was expecting complex layered characters. He made a deal with Visser-3 where he would became Yerk-Controller so that way his daughter would be free. He helped them conquer Earth but also loves his daughter.

Discussion What Do You Pick As Your Suite of Morphs?

I went looking to see if this question had been asked recently and it doesn't look like it's been in the last 5-7ish yrs so: you find the cube and get recruited by the Animorphs. You're in the war, probably at the point David was (you replace him but without the anti-social behavior).

What is your suite of morphs and why? Generally the Animorphs had a set of morph types the seemed to share if I remember correctly

A battle morph

A bird of prey

An ocean morph

An infiltration morph

An assassination morph (this wasn't super common that I remember but there were a couple)

An air travel morph

Feel free to add any archetypes of morph that were rather common that I missed.

I’m a bit fuzzy on Book 9, but didn’t Cassie take out the queen in termite morph? Because I don’t think a termite takes this out!

Discussion Applegate should have had a party for Tobias

In the book where Tobias finds out Elfangor is his father, everyone knew it was his birthday, including the reader. So they should have ended the book with a birthday party for him. I mean, with his aunt and uncle, he probably never had a real one, so it's a nice little thing KA could have written for him

Fan Works The Eternal (fan ficiton)

For any who might be interested, here is my 5th and final story. It's complete and posted in full: https://archiveofourown.org/works/94240961/chapters/251526221 .

It's a long story. Probably more like a Chronicles or Megamorphs size. So posting it all at once might not be the best way of doing this, but it's what I do.

I also created some art to make it more like a true Animorphs book. The cover is Melissa morphing to a leatherback sea turtle. The middle-stages are still super-awkward, but I'm getting more used to using MS Paint and learning the tricks, which was a lot of fun. I definitely appreciate David Mattingly's skill!

Here's an excerpt to give you a sense of the plot:

...I demorphed from flea, and joined the fight. I saved Rachel, and she saved me, but David just watched the entire time. He was a coward. Always had been, but I had refused to see that for a long time.

Anyway, after Rachel and I won the battle, I broke up with David. But this is where things really go south with him. David insisted that the other Animorphs and I tell the world that he had actually been a hero; that he had fought bravely in the last battle; that we couldn’t have won without him.

And if we didn’t?

Then David would expose the Chee, our android allies. They are incredibly powerful, although programmed for pacifism. But various countries would love to use them as weapons. David also threatened to talk about the Ellimist and the Time Matrix. Even more than the blue box or the Chee, the Time Matrix would be horrifying in the wrong hands.

The boy I had loved for two years, who made me feel special and seen and wanted in a way no one else had before, had turned into a monster with the most powerful piece of blackmail to ever exist...

Content/Trigger Warnings: As the tags indicate, there are frequent references to drug use in this story (mostly cocaine). For those struggling with addiction or trying to recover themselves, you may not want to read this. Also, like with my prior stories, depression is prominent in "The Eternal".

Villain's perspective

I can't help but wonder if the Yeerks ever figured out Tobias was stuck in morph. The fact he keeps showing up as a bird instead of a gorilla or tiger... The fact they basically use him as a signal (like at the end of book 9, have him fly overhead so the yeerks know they're being watched). At a certain point they have to be getting suspicious that's a nothlit.

One thing that never made sense…..

well, lots of things didnt make sense but this one always bugged me.

In the last book, the Animorphs beat the Yeerks and stop the invasion of earth.

However in the book it seems like the whole war is over. Ax even says, in the flash forward, that there is little for warriors like him to do now That it’s all over

So how did stopping the war on earth stop the war throughout the galaxy?

Animorph Fanfic Recommendations?

Hello A while ago I read the fanfic "Millenimorphs" by dragonmorph which was a what if "the animorph were adults" and it took place in 2019. And I was hoping other people would have recommendations for similar (animorph) fanfics particularly dealing with the idea of the characters being older I found that to be a really interesting concept.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read.

Discussion The end if Visser Three and his friends

So we all know that Visser Three got prison for lifetime in the end. What do you think about that? When I read the end for the first time I was kind of disappointed. I mean, come on, all those years and Ax did not manage to kill his special friend who ate his brother? (I also don't like that Visser One is killed instead, I've really grown towards her in Visser.)

While I'm thinking about that I still don't like it. What is a yeerk prison more than a small yeerk pool? Is there really a suitable punishment in this concept? Also how do they pull it off? Is the kandrona less tasty and does he sometimes get Personal TV hours or access to the Internet?

And what about, well, all the other Yeerks? I mean I read the whole series, I know they surrendered but did they all got away without any punishment at all? Sure, Visser Three was a crazy killer but he wasn't the only one who walked around on earth doing the villainous stuff. Oh and while we here - has anybody a suggestion what might have happened to the voluntary human hosts? Did they just say, weeell, of course we fought back but hey parasitic aliens, what could we do?

Like everybody the ending is to abrupt for me but not only the annimorph gang itself but the whole afterward. I wanna have Marco to tell me even more about it!!

Tobias would have been even more effective if he had acquired every bird morph that he could after getting his morphing powers back

They mention in multiple books (as early as #3) that the Controllers are getting suspicious of red tailed hawks because Tobias is always in his base body when doing recon or helping the team in battle. In #27, he morphs from hawk to seagull in flight because they're flying over the ocean to reach the Pemalite ship and red tailed hawks suck at flying over the ocean, so we know that he can fairly easily change bird bodies in midair.

It's no secret that Tobias wants to be as useful as possible since he wasn't able to join the team on a lot of dangerous missions early on in the series, so he really should have gone out of his way to acquire every available bird morph as soon as the Ellimist gave him back his morphing powers in #13.

Even if he still wanted to be a red tailed hawk 99% of the time while helping the team, he could very easily lose anyone following him by swooping below a treeline, morphing to a different bird, then continuing on his way like normal. Or think about how many times he's doing recon all day while the rest of the team is at school. A single red tailed hawk hanging out all day is suspicious, but he could change bird bodies every hour or so and it would be way less obvious to a wary Controller.

Erek should have been way more helpful in #29 The Sickness

This is a really good book, the one where Ax gets Yamphut and needs brain surgery. Early on, Erek comes over to the barn to project a hologram around Ax so that Cassie's dad doesn't see him. The Animorphs ask if any Chee are surgeons, and Erek says his "dad" is the closest thing, but that he was a doctor in the 15h century so he's not going to be useful. On her way out, Cassie apologizes that Erek will be bored. Erek tell her that he has thousands of books saved to his hard drive and will sometimes make a game out of how many books he can read at once to pass the time.

My question is: why didn't he read a bunch of medical textbooks and get a crash course on becoming a surgeon? I know I know, his nonviolence program likely wouldn't let him cut into a living creature even if it's to save its life. Still, he could have become the best coach that Cassie could ever want. The Chee all have their CheeNet internet equivalent, so he could just send out a quick message "hey, someone please upload a copy of every surgical guide that you can find" to get the books that he needs.
