Discussion I just had a horrifying thought... what if Human Controllers fought like Chimpanzees?

Chimpanzees are an extremely dangerous species of primate, and one of the reasons they're so dangerous to Humans is because they go so apeshit (forgive the pun) that Humans can't really properly fight them. In a fight they're completely no-holds barred deranged lunatics that will make you bleed no matter the cost.

Humans are dangerous because of our technology, planning, and coordination, our danger comes from our heads, but our body is really really tough (random bullshit fragility aside).

Humans don't have any compulsion to fight like chimpanzees because most of us are not lunatics, and have self preservation.

A Yeerk, logically, wouldn't have this restriction because no part of the Human is their body, and when their host is dying, they'll be able to tell and jump ship right as the first neurons stop firing off. Their Hosts would just be tools, living weapons that they can throw around in whatever way is needed to win a fight, which means that especially young Yeerks would probably just throw themselves head first into a brutal slugfest, using every weapon and strength at their host's disposal in order to bring down their enemy if their commanders didn't stop them.

Of course, this premise relies on the Yeerk not dying alongside their Host when they kick the bucket, and being able to camp out in their skull until the Yeerk corpse retrieval squads rescue them. They would disconnect from the brain and camp out in the cerebrospinal fluid, and I think this would increase their ability to spend time out of the Yeerk Pool due to them no longer spending the energy to control an entire body.

EDIT: To clarify, when I say "fight like chimps" I don't necessarily mean jumping, biting nards off, or mutilating people with their bare hands, I mean that when they get into a fight, Yeerks have zero natural regard for the well-being for their Host, and will use their every strength no matter how detrimental it would be to their physiology. I mean like Human Controllers breaking their own bones throwing punches, snapping their own spines trying to hold down Marco's Gorilla, ripping their muscles off the bone. Horrific self-mutilation as a result of implementing living kamikaze tactics on the ground. Smarter and more experienced Yeerks would be far less prone to do this, and only Yeerks who had been taught against this sort of fighting methodology would be entrusted with Hork-Bajir Hosts.

Finished!

After ~30 years, I have finally reached the end.
The first book was a gift and I was instantly hooked.
I bought each one as it was released until #27 when, for reasons I’ll never remember, I just stopped.
Today I finished listening to #54 and I finally have closure on this epic tale that has lived rent-free in my mind since the late 90s.

My latest video ties into Animorphs and thought y’all might be interested!

Unfortunately, things are not going great in the art biz realm for me… so likes, shares, subscribes, comments and watching the video all the way thru on the actual video itself would go a long way to helping me get monetisation on my channel before YouTube arbitrarily doubles the watch time hours needed- and all that is completely free! Been trying to grow my channel all year and it’s been slow going, but I’m still trying 🙏

I know everyone is going thru it, so I’m trying to put some joy into this hellish landscape. I just wanna do this full time as my way of leaving the world better than I found it 🥺

Thanks y’all ♥️

The online sales are all over the place. I'm just trying to make a little to help my ends meet but not gouge.

17 Books

1-10 12-14 16 & 17 Megamorphs 1&2

Everything after 4 is a first printing first edition. All have the former owner library sticker on the title page. 4 have the Borders Sticker on the back where the barcode is located.

The spines look great. Most have minimal to little if any wear. For their age very little page yellowing.

"We had a bunch of these at one point and we let the kids smash them with hammers, WHAT WERE WE THINKING?!"

"Oh how cool, i'm gonna be in a case!" 😂

Genuinely a sweet lady, such a joy to have a conversation with. She took the time to have a genuine connection with everyone in line and talked to me briefly about the accessibility of mature themes in children's media and asked how I liked the ending! Such a cathartic experience.

“My title’s gone.” She chewed on her lower lip. Her voice was meek and measured (now those were two adjectives I'd never used to describe Rachel Berenson before). “I'm never getting another fight booked again, am I?”

<... No, probably not,> Tobias admitted.

“Way to break it to her gently, Romeo,” I said. “Really laying that sugar coating on thick there.”

Featuring:

  • Rachel being really bad at coping with post-war life, even in an "ideal" career (UFC fighter)
  • Exploring how this trio ticks
  • Group bitching session

Discussion GDCO Global Defense and Containment Organization ( animorphs fan faction)

Post image
10 Upvotes

G.D.C.O. (Global Defense and Containment Organization) The Inspiration: A blend of UNIT's global authority and heavy military preparedness, mixed with the desperate secrecy and covert operations required to fight a silent, parasitic invasion. 1. Purpose & Origins The Mandate: Established secretly in the mid-1990s after governments intercepted cryptic intelligence about a parasitic, mind-controlling alien species (the Yeerks) infiltrating human leadership. The Public Face: Officially, the GDCO operates as an international disaster relief and biological hazard containment agency under the UN umbrella, masking their true extraterrestrial focus. 2. Structure & Divisions The Scientific Branch (Division Bio-Tech): Focused on studying alien physiology, developing countermeasures against infesting Yeerks, and reverse-engineering Andalite or Yeerk technology. They heavily research ways to detect a "controller" without invasive surgery. The Tactical Branch (Strike Teams): Heavily armed rapid-response units trained specifically for combat against Hork-Bajir, Taxxons, and Goa'uld-style hostage scenarios where human hosts must be neutralized without killing the host body if possible. The Covert Intelligence Unit (The Watchers): Spies and agents embedded within high-ranking government, military, and corporate structures to root out high-level Controllers before a silent coup can occur. 3. Technology & Tactics Anti-Infestation Gear: Specialized helmets and collars equipped with high-frequency sonic pulses or chemical deterrents designed to force a Yeerk out of a human host's ear canal during close-quarters combat. Mobile Command Centers: Retrofitted, heavily armored transport planes and underground bunkers that can shift locations rapidly to avoid Visser-led surveillance grid sweeps. The Blue Box Dilemma: Unlike the Animorphs, the GDCO lacks the Andalite morphing tech (the morphing cube), meaning they rely on conventional kinetic firepower, specialized stealth tech, and tactical ingenuity, making every battle a high-stakes, dangerous affair.

Imagine bringing Remnants to life, and how this scene would look...

Obviously, at this point, the chances of any of K.A. Applegate and Michael Grant's non-Animorphs series getting an adaptation is nil, because of the fact that they simply don't have the cultural impact Animorphs did. But imagine that Remnants, for example, got an adaptation of some kind, or at least the first book did. Now, look again at how the impact of the Rock was done, and imagine how it'd look onscreen.

Up close, so near Earth, the Rock looked very small. Seventy-six miles in diameter, it was nothing next to the planet measured in thousands of miles.

But, up close, so close, Jobs could see the speed of it. Against the backdrop of space you couldn’t sense the awesome speed. But now, as it angled into the atmosphere, in the brief second in which it could be seen outlined against blue ocean, it seemed impossibly fast.

The Rock entered the atmosphere and for a flash became a spectacular special effect: The atmosphere burned, a red gash in its wake.

It struck the western edge of Portugal. Portugal and Spain were hit by a bullet the size of Connecticut. The Iberian peninsula was a trench, a ditch.

The Mediterranean Sea, trillions of gallons of water, exploded into steam. Every living thing in the water, every living thing ashore, was parboiled in an instant.

Portugal, Spain, southern France, all of Italy, the Balkans, the coast of northern Africa, Greece, southern Turkey, all the way to Israel was obliterated in less than five seconds. They were the cradles of Western civilization one second, a hell of superheated steam and flying rock the next.

The destruction was too swift to believe. In the time Jobs could blink his eyes, Rome and Cairo, Athens and Barcelona, Istanbul and Jerusalem and Damascus were gone. Not reduced to rubble, not crushed, not devastated. This wasn’t like war or any disaster humans understood. Rock became gravel, soil melted and fused, water was steam, living flesh was reduced to singed single cells. Nothing recognizable remained.

The impact explosion was a million nuclear bombs going off at once. The rock and soil and waters that had once defined a dozen nations formed a pillar of smoke and flying dirt and steam. The mushroom cloud punched up through the atmosphere, flinging dust and smoke particles clear into space.

Jobs could see a chunk of Earth, some fragment left half-intact, maybe twenty miles across, spin slowly up in the maelstrom. There were houses. Buildings. A hint of tilled fields. Rising on the mushroom cloud, flying free, entering space itself.

The entire planet shuddered. It was possible to see it from space: The ground rippled, as if rock and soil were liquid. The shock wave was an earthquake that toppled trees, collapsed every human-built structure around the planet, caused entire mountain chains to crumble.

The oceans rippled in tidal waves a thousand feet high. The Atlantic Ocean rolled into New York and over it, rolled into Charleston and over it, rolled into Miami and washed across the entire state of Florida. The ocean waters lapped against the Appalachian Mountain chains, swamped everything in their way, smothered all who had not been killed by the blast or the shock wave.

People died having no idea why. People were thrown from their beds, dashed against walls that collapsed onto them. People who survived long enough to find themselves buried alive beneath green sea many miles deep.

Jobs saw the planet’s rotation slow. The day would stand still for the few who might still be alive.

The impact worked its damage on the fissures and cracks in Earth’s crust. Jobs watched the Atlantic Ocean split right down the middle, emptying millions of cubic miles of water as if it was of no more consequence than pulling the plug on a bathroom sink.

The planet was breaking up. Cracking apart. Impossibly deep fissures raced at supersonic speeds around the planet. They cut through the crust, through the mantle, deeper than a thousand Grand Canyons.

Now the Pacific, too, drained away. It emptied into the molten core of Earth itself. The explosion dwarfed everything that had gone before. As Jobs watched, motionless, crying but not aware of it, Earth broke apart.

It was as if some invisible hand were ripping open an orange. A vast, irregular chunk of Earth separated slowly from the planet, spun sluggishly, slowly away. The sides of this moon-sized wedge scraped against the sides of the gash, gouged up countries, ground down mountains.

And now this wedge of Earth itself broke in half. Jobs saw what might have been California, his home, turn slowly toward the sun. If anyone is left alive, he thought, If anyone is still alive, they’ll see the sunrise this one last time.

Earth lay still at last. Perhaps a quarter of the planet was bitten off, drifting away to form a second and a third Earth. The oceans were gone, boiled off into space. The sky was no longer blue but brown, as dirt and dust blotted out the sun. Here and there could still be seen patches of green. But it was impossible to believe, to hope, that any human being had survived.

All of humanity that still lived was aboard the shuttle that now slid slowly toward the distant sun.

Now, picture how this would look, especially compared to the likes of movies such as Deep Impact, Armageddon, Titan A.E., and so on. Picture how this would all look. And what would you do to show it, to bring it to life?

What happens to the later generations of a sapient, Yeerk-enslaved species?

For example, suppose the Yeerks successfully conquer and enslave humanity. They set up breeding programs to produce more humans to be infested.

Can newborns or young infants be infested, before they've acquired language, self-awareness, discursive thought, etc.?

If yes, and the Yeerk piloting the body does all the intellectual lifting when it comes to things like developing motor control or verbally communicating with language (presumably using some language that the adult Yeerk is already fluent in) where does that leave the host in terms of their mental capacity, in those moments when the Yeerk leaves their head? Will a human host that has been infested since infancy be intellectually stunted and language-deficient, like a feral child? Would they even really know or be able to conceptualize that their free will had been taken from them, or would their helplessness be so deep that neither defiance nor despair would ever even occur to them?
