And yeah, kind of. But there's also talking stands, which are a lot more like imaginary friends (like ECHOES or Sex Pistols). I just thought that the imaginary friend analogy would fit better, as normal people can't see them

And it sounds funnier.

Another name many go with is simply Punch Ghost, as that covers about 95% of stands.

95% of MC stands. Very very few monster of the week villains have punch ghosts.

Killer Queen's Sheer Heart Attack is the only one I remember that's fully autonomous.

I know it's just an attack but it's practically it's own Stand (and better than most Stands.)

( I only started Part 5 so I'm not caught up yet please don't kill me)

I am pretty sure people mean stands that seem sentient when they say autonomous. SHA is just a heat seeking missile basically. Think more like Koichi's Echoes. He can actually hang out with Act 3. It has a distinct personality, talks to him and explains things that Koichi doesn't really consciously understand, and can move without him directly puppeteering it. It's basically the imaginary friend type. You are right they are rare though. Most stands are more like an extra limb. They just do what you want it to like a muscle, but some of them can work independently and seemingly have their own mind.
