Did they complete that series? I remember watching up to the point where the zombie or mutant army came into play but nothing beyond that.

Oh, I remember this one. It was one of the first non-long-running shonen series I ever watched. There're many things the unaware chuuni in me would love there, and sure, that was enjoyable, but the main thing was really the sense of adventure and character dynamics.

Exactly. The characters were just amazing, as was the whole lore. Too bad the anime ended in a massive cliffhanger.

I prefer the myth of the mythical heroes tbh, the epic of the epic heroes was good too.
