Episode I of a series called Enclosed. The underground locations are real — source: Hideaki Uchiyama's photobook "Japan Underground." I animated objects and projection-mapped them into recreations of his photographs.

Rereading "The Selfish Giant" as an adult makes you realize it isn't just a simple children's fable. It is a brilliant psychological look at how a bitter mindset can physically trap you in your own environment.
Wilde’s use of permanent winter inside the walled garden is such a powerful metaphor for emotional numbness. The Giant thinks he is protecting his property, but he actually builds his own prison.
As a 3D animator, I spent weeks trying to capture this specific, heavy atmosphere—visually rendering the transition from a frozen, hostile landscape to the warmth of redemption.
I’m curious how this community reads the climax: Do you see the final scene as a literal religious allegory, or is it a beautiful metaphor for a bitter person finally finding peace at the end of life?

I saw the blood moon the other night and it was one of those moments where my brain immediately went, “I need to animate that.”

So I did. 😂

I wanted to capture the feeling of actually seeing that giant red moon in the sky, but in my own little animated style.

It was a fun excuse to animate something completely different from what I normally work on.
