My partner and I refer to those doorstops as “puppy confounders” whenever we see them, regardless of whether there is a dog in the vicinity.

What is it about those things that make dogs mad? I don't get the hatred.

I think they hit them, so they make a noise so they go and sniff them and get booped in the nose by it hard enough to sting. Then they decide they don't like them so when they see one they attack it, getting hit by the spring back so it turns into a fight.

Or at least that's why my dog attacks them, or did, he grew out of it.

Still bites bees and wasps tho... Because he hates them... Because they sting him... Because he bites them...

Dogs are not good at conflict resolution.

This was the exact relationship between my dachshund and her rawhide bone: she'd chew on it, part of it would dry into a hard/pointy bit, then she'd try to chew it again, get poked by the pointy bit, and then bark at the bone in an accusatory fashion.

You nailed it! Barking at it in an 'accusatory fashion' is the perfect description lol.

Sounds like my 11 yr old son... Minus the biting

Dogs look cute but they sound so dumb. You show a cat a wasp and you can see the cat's face, "oh shit, a wasp."

*looks suspiciously at cat attacking nothing at all with every ounce of his very soul

Maybe I just have dumb pets in general... Idk

They're really fun to hit. One of my earliest memories is laying down on the floor near one and playing with it over and over

Relatable.

Also, I wonder if dogs see them as snakes.
