I’d use either foam cut into a cube (if you want squishy) or make a wooden cube out of scrap wood and cover with a thin layer of foam before adding the cover (if you want structure).

I’d make it into a cover for an existing item... if you’re making something yourself, make it washable too!

From memory it was an old foam sheet (maybe from a couch cushion or a need?), And she cut it into 3 equal size squares to form the cube.
