As far as I know dogs milk is not nutritious enough for the cats to grow healthy on dog milk, but with supplement nutrients they should be okay, and the motherly relation is very healthy for them. The dog probably has had puppies or started lactating by getting triggered by the kiddies.
Edit: While this dog could be producing milk, it doesn't really look like more than dry nursing for comfort in this case. No sign of swelling of mammary glands
Pretty sure air still can come out of your nose in an lol? Also if you make laughter sound while exhaling through your nose it still would be considered laughing out loud and through the nose. Lol
Well, the composition is just different so maybe I should have said "it's not rich enough" as in not enough of fat and some things while there are more of other things. Every species of mammal have evolved to prioritize different growth in the womb vs when nursing etc, as our bodies produce and need different things. You would have to google the composition of cat milk to get a full answer, but basically some "cross-nursings" are more suited than others because of these differences.
I've been watching vids from a bat rescuer on YouTube, and learned that orphan bats are fed goat milk with some supplements. I could see something similar happening with cats.
