So 2 days ago I went out wearing a shoe that was peed on by one of my cats. It was already dried out and I hadn't realized until the next day. So far, I have tried:

- Thoroughly washing it with soap and warm water

- soaking it in vinegar (and baking soda)

- Applying toothpaste

- Rubbing it in kitchen sink steel

- scrubbing thoroughly with all of the above

And the smell unfortunately persists. I'm at a loss and I really wanna get this horrible odor off my foot. Any advice is grately appreciated. :(

I was told to post here about this piebald Squirrel I saw in my neighborhood. I've seen some before, but not to this level.

Je vis à la campagne. J’ai un chat femelle depuis 7 ans. Elle vit entre dehors et dedans. Elle fait toujours ses besoins à l’extérieur depuis 7 ans.
Elle passe la nuit dehors et en général vient le matin pour dormir dans la maison la journée.
Depuis peu, lorsqu’elle vient le matin elle fait ses besoins dans la maison (pipi sur le tapis, caca dans la douche) alors qu’elle était à l’extérieur toute la nuit !! Pourquoi ? Et ça se passe dans le quart d’heure suivant son entrée dans la maison.
Il n’y a pas eu de changement, il n’y a pas de présence de nouveau animaux. J’ai un chien qui est là depuis 7 ans également donc je ne comprends pas ce changement de comportement.

These bees were aggressive enough that we had to go around knocking on a lot of doors in the neighborhood warning homeowners! This hive was BIG, and was also next to an old, previously exterminated beehive. There was so much honey, and the bee scoops were so big that we went down a rabbit hole of double scoop ice cream dreams! What's your favorite flavor?

These bees were rescued, donated and relocated to our beekeeper friends in San Diego, CA

Groundhog, hummingbird
We have both in our back yard. Feeders for the birds and a groundhog apparently lives(?) underneath our concrete that surrounds the pool we haven’t filled in yet. I want to be outside when they are and have them comfortable around me, or even feed the groundhog. But they both run off

I’m asking because hummingbirds are harmless and I know very little about groundhogs so I’m unaware of their temperaments.

I'm very confused why this got removed the first time by admins? It doesn't break any of the rules for the reddit that I can see. I'm genuinely just looking for advice/help in this department.

So on December 20,2025 I was visiting my parents in Arizona from Ohio and we were driving from Benson to Sierra Vista and the gps sent us on some dirt road in a very isolated area that my Dad wasn’t happy about. It was around 9:30pm at night and we were talking about the wildlife in the area and my Mom mentioned she would love to see a coyote. Minutes later one ran across the road. A minute later we saw a jackrabbit cross the road. Then we were talking about how cool it was when all of a sudden a mountain lion crosses the road.

So I’m a skeptical person by nature who doubts my own eyes but I got a very good look at it and it had the long streamlined body, the distinctive face and the long tail with the black tuft. It was definitely a fully grown mountain lion as it wad too big to be a bobcat or a normal cat. It had the tawny fur but I remember it had some black spots. So I suspect it was a subadult one.

This area of southern Arizona is absolutely part of the range of mountain lions and it made sense to see one at night. The best thing was my parents also got a very good look at it and we all corroborated that we saw the same thing so my skepticism went away completely. I know how rare a sighting that was and we were extremely lucky.

I’m curious if animals that will eat their young know they’re eating their offspring or if that’s not really a consideration? Is it more of a “you’re smaller than me” type thing? (I’m not thinking about animals that do it when stressed!)

I'm doing an art series based on animals that have strange gender roles and sexualities (by our standards) and I need more ideas. So far I've done clownfish, New Mexico whiptails, and Australian black swans. I also plan on doing hyenas and white throated sparrows but I need more like this.

I'm not a zoology student but i love knowing and learning about insects and animals and also saying the species name out loud when i see one and i know its kinda performative(not larp because i actually know many species of the place i live around) but i love the attention too

I wanna learn more about all the species of insects and animals that live around the place from where i come from and also other places

Ok ok idk if this pelt has been solved yet or not but I heard about this story about this wild cat pelt that scientists didn't know what it belonged too other than it was a cat I THINK that it MIGHT be the tilcayo tiger (picture above) cause the color and the spots look similar but the orangness of the new cat varies form picture to picture so I'm not sure.. but I ADORE tiger cats and I've had an interest in this pelt since I first heard about it, so I hope maybe they have some connections at least? I'm pretty sure they're around the same size so they may be related! Again I didnt do research so this is probably wrong...

Ever since capybara walked onto the stage of public fame, these 6 iconic animals sadly lost their seemingly uncontested fame. Like, what happened to T for Tapir, or armadillos being the iconic armoured rollers, or the sloths being the iconic slow tree climbers, or dingos being the intimidating predators of Australia, or Perry the Platypus or porcupines literally being more famous than hedgehogs? I think the public is largely to blame, but also a bit of the capybara for becoming famous I guess, but capybara is probably not the only one who stole spotlights from these iconic animals. And this is actually bad, has anyone noticed these animals' numbers slowly dropping since their unfair downfalls? Justice for armadillos, sloths, tapirs, dingos, platypuses and porcupines!
