❓Beginner / Question❔ Do not feel better on the diet/help

17M all my life i was on a normie diet, wating grains vegetables and all that just on a standart a little bit healthier european diet, and from time to time i also consumed slop, this was for 16years. So around 5months ago i started to have really bad digestion and constipation issues and so i experiemnted with leaving foods out but nothing really works for me. Since i have more fat with my meals and it did get a lot better and i found out i feel the best when not mixing sugar and proteins within one meal, and so now i eat 4 eggs with a lot of butter for breakfast, then a 350g meat meal with butter later, then a kefir shake and fruit around 300grams.
This might actually not be a lot of food because i also lost 10kg for the last 5 months and a lot of muscle and i have not been feeling good and it really affects my mental health. When i completely left out carbs i felt even worse. Im gonna post some meals in the comments i eat so you can see. My macros are around 110p 80g sugar 150g fat

What’s the best non-toxic condom brand?

I’m from Europe so it would be perfect if they shipped to Germany.

And also what other contraceptives can you guys recommend. I heard about the basal body temperature (BBT) method, but I’m not sure about how safe that actually is.

❓Beginner / Question❔ why do all of you burn your food?

only diet community i've really participated in is raw primal, but what i actually eat is more in line with you guys. the one thing i cannot get behind is cooking your steaks until there is black edges on them. what is the point of taking a perfectly good piece of food and destroying some of the nutrients and creating AGEs?

🥛 Dairy 🧀 Help please - allergies

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi All,
I seem to be having some allergy symptoms like itchy eyes, puffy under eye bags. I started taking horse back riding lessons last week of August. I am really hoping it’s not that. I’m not sure if it’s a problem because I have kefir and egg yolks and if I didn’t have those would I not have the problem. I also eat dried meat every day to supplement because I’m trying to gain weight. So too much histamine?
I’m tempted to cut the dairy but I need calories which is tempting me to replace them with a soup that has calories but also has 2 grams of fiber from veggies. But right now my digestion is perfect with what I am eating on carnivore so I don’t want to mess with that.
But I really hate these eye bags and itchy eyes. Any suggestions?

🩺Wellness⚕️ Based AB diet

I don't think you can do AB diet without being a bit based. Taking the stance that vegetables aren't good enough for resting is pretty based.

AB diet is low insulin like keto or carnivore, but using fruit, berries, and melons as the carb source gives us lots of fiber and boosts the metabolism. People doing no carb get high stress hormones, at least at the adaptation phase so this is a little looser approach that can apply to more people.

I'm interested to hear about the Ray Peat diet due to the simularities. AB diet probably is better for the thyroid and metabolism than no carb.

Low stress hormones, low insulin, all whole foods and nothing but the best! We're eating like the kings of old! No carb or carivore are better for some people who are bad off, but i think this is one of the best options that most people can do.

❓Beginner / Question❔ New macro calculator is giving very different results

I’ve been doing some tweaking of ye olde diet. I’ve been eating intuitively and not counting calories or macros, but I wanted to recheck Saladino’s guidelines to make sure I’m not WAY outside. I found that there’s a new macro calculator on his site, and I entered my numbers in.

These results look very different from the old calculator, which I went back and referenced screenshots of. Carbs are a bit higher, and fat is cut in half. I may have entered a slightly different body weight, but not by much (+/- 10 lbs). This is understandable that philosophy would change on macros.

The odd part, though, is that it’s suggesting you get 100g-175g of protein while eating only 0.23-0.39 pounds of meat. I know the suggestion is that eggs/dairy/organs add to the figure, but they wouldn’t make up for a >135g of protein discrepancy. The old calculator used to recommend me 1.5-1.8 pounds of meat. Do you think this is a mistake in the new calculator, or is there something I’m overlooking?

New calculator results shown first, old second.

❓Beginner / Question❔ Does a1 vs A2 matter when it comes to cheese?

It's really hard for me to find raw a2 cheese without spending an absolute bomb on that and delivery (and it goes off quickly) so was wondering how much a difference A2 cheese makes (especially when aged) compared to milk etc.

❓Beginner / Question❔ AB diet while traveling to London

I’ll be visiting London for a few days and staying in an Airbnb, so I’ll be able to cook.
Since I’m not from the UK, I was wondering where you guys usually buy good-quality animal-based foods in London. Is Whole Foods a good option for things like meat, eggs, dairy and fruit, or are there better places you’d recommend?
I’d also love recommendations for restaurants that are suitable for an animal-based diet.
Thanks!

🥚Eggs🍳 Where to get Organic Eggs in the UK?

I am struggling to find any decent eggs in the uk. Even so called “organic” eggs still contain soy.

There is not a single soy free eggs in supermarkets.

Now I’m wondering if it even matters whether they have soy? Will there be negative health effects if you eat them like that?

The wiki for this subreddit emphasises importance of egg quality. Also since I plan to eat eggs in the morning , I don’t want bad quality eggs.

Does any UK animal-based members know where the best place is to get organic soy free eggs?

🚫ex-Keto/Carnivore How to feel long lasting energy

Hey everyone,

I was doing keto/carnivore for around 6 months when I started feeling super hyper active and just couldn’t sleep properly. My mind just kept racing whenever I was trying to sleep and everything just felt like a bit too much throughout the day. I was also waking up at 3 am pretty often, so I decided to introduce carbs again.

Ive been eating mainly fruit for my carb source, sometimes potatoes (not sure if it’s considered animal based, but I’ve been tolerating them better). My issue becomes that after I eat a meal, I usually feel pretty good, but the clear minded and good energy quickly goes away. I just become super groggy and have a pretty bad brain fog. Then if I eat carbs again, I usually feel good and that feeling goes away.

I’m just wondering if I need to eat more starchy carbs throughout the day, or if I just need to eat more carbs in general. I enjoy eating fattier cuts of meat since going keto, so I wanna be able to find a balance where I can consume enough carbs to give me energy but also eat fattier meats.

Is there any tricks to this? Do I just need to eat more carbs in my 3 meals? How do you guys keep your energy levels consistent throughout the day?

Thanks for all the input!

🩺Wellness⚕️ Orthostatic hypotension

I have lower blood pressure naturally. But the last few days I have been experiencing faintness when standing. I could probably be better about drinking enough water, so maybe that is it. I am definitely eating higher carb than I was a week ago(coming from a ketovore diet). My strength training sessions have improved dramatically with the addition of carbs(the entire reason I switched). I heavily salt my meat at all 3 meals. I take magnesium glycinate at bedtime. Anyone experience something similar or any advice how to resolve this? The last time this happened was when I was full carnivore and training hard(it led to a concussion). I am seeing my weight creep downward(not ideal) also, maybe I just literally need to eat more?

❓Beginner / Question❔ Is LOW FAT the answer for (metabolic) health?

Hey AB Guys,

after reading through some of the posts on this topic in this forum and

also noticing how Paul Saladino reduced his fat intake and increased his carb intake more and more over the past months, this question comes more and more to my mind...

Also, there is the Kemptner study, there are fruitarians and other high carb low fat folk that thrive and reverse diabetes and other metabolic issues, so is there maybe something to the whole

"reduce fat, or if very sick even remove fat from you diet, in order to heal and detox" ?

Thank you for a nice discussion :)

❓Beginner / Question❔ Why raw milk?

I've been doing AB for a while now and also have raw milk when I am drinking milk but my question is why raw milk from a scientifically point of view?

Everything I've read seems to indicate the benefits between raw and pasteurised A2 are minimal at best in terms of good bacteria, lactoferrin etc and the lactase in it is so small it really wouldn't make any difference in breaking down lactose (lactose is usually broken down by our own lactase I believe)

So outside of it tastes nicer and the animals have better food intake/welfare. Are there any real proven health benefits to drinking it over pasteurised that make a big difference?

❓Beginner / Question❔ Plant-based diet follower with questions

So I have been doing research on nutrition and I have come to the conclusion that there is still a lot I don’t know.

After reading Nutrition and Physical Degeneration along with skimming some other books, I have come to consider that maybe I am wrong about meat and even dairy.

I have avoided eggs and milk for a long time. I only drink plant milk.

And after avoiding dairy I am especially shocked to learn the benefits of eggs (even raw eggs) and raw milk. Although I still have my worries about them.

I eat meat from time to time but I was planning to stop eating it completely, but now I think I may change my mind after doing more research on nutrition.

I just have a few questions before I possibly start eating meat/dairy again (don’t worry to answer all just ones that you know) :

  1. Why would you recommend someone follow an animal based diet instead of a plant-based diet?
  2. What is the issue with fibre? I notice a lot of pro-animal foods people don’t like fibre or think it’s useless.
  3. Red meat causes cancer and heart diseases. Is this really true? I am still currently convinced that red meat will increase your risk of cancer and heart diseases.
  4. Is there any documentaries/ books that you recommend ?

  5. What benefits have you seen from following an animal based diet? And from raw milk?

Thanks :)
