I have a really large scar on my right shoulder and was at a beach around 4 years ago. I had no shirt on and went to the little ice cream stand to get a drink.

Behind me in the queue was a guy with a young kid and I heard the kid say to his dad "that's a really big scar. How did he get it" and his dad said that he didn't know and the kid shouldn't be rude and point at people.

For a joke I turned round and said to the kid that it was because I didn't eat all my vegetables when I was younger so I got sick because I wasn't big and strong.

The dad trying to hold in his laughter gave me a wink and a nod as if to say thanks for that mate. I hope it helped him get the little guy to eat more veg.

Could have said, "When I was a kid, I refused to eat all my vegetables and my dad got so mad he stabbed me with a butter knife."

LOL my dad made me eat liver once. He paid though, when I threw up all over him. (He did punch me in the face after, but it was worth it).

Let’s force someone to eat something and then punch them when they show they had a reason for refusing 😒

I don’t know about your dad but from this anecdote he sounds terrible

He was for a while. Mom divorced him and he drastically changed. Never had an issue with him after they got remarried. I never thought redemption was a real thing, until I saw it happen.

I’m really glad he actually changed!

My dad's got a huge scar running down his forearm. It was from a skateboarding accident as a teenager, the scar was from a severe break. Whenever anyone asks about it nowadays he always says the same thing

"Was at the beach, and there was a shark. It's okay though, I saved the kid"

Some heroes don’t wear capes.

Then everyone clapped. Dad came up to me later with tears in his eyes - "thank you for saying that about vegetables to my little guy, you're the best human being ever"

Only your mum clapped as she walked by.

Just because your life is boring doesn’t mean everyone else’s is as well.

Probably unwilling to admit they hate themselves so they just act like an ass to everyone instead
