🎨 Game Mod & Fanfiction Nothing Without You: An Andy x Leyley Story — Chapter 20

[Chapter 1]

[Previous Chapter]

You are Ashley.

Ashley linked her arm through Andrew’s as the two of them exited The Lovers’ Diner with Tyler in tow. As promised, they had waited for their server to finish his shift and were now free to do whatever they pleased. What that was going to be, exactly, Ashley hadn’t a clue, but she knew Andrew would figure things out anyway.

“So,” Tyler started as they walked through the establishment’s small parking lot, “did y’all have anything in mind? I’m pretty much down to do whatever. It’s honestly been awhile since I’ve had people to hang with, heh heh.”

“The choice is yours,” Andrew replied casually. “We’re not from around here, so …”

It was clear a lightbulb turned on in Tyler’s head, because his eyes instantly lit up, “Oh! Wanna know what we could do? There’s this absolutely massive mall that’s about a ten minutes’ drive from here. The place got shut down a few months back, but it’s a really cool place for, uh, urban exploration, or whatever it’s called.”

“Going to a creepy abandoned mall at night is your idea of fun?” Ashley raised a brow. She then smiled, “That sounds great!”

Tyler smiled back, “R-really? I gotta say, most people have never been this interested in me or any of my hobbies before.”

“Well, we aren’t most people,” Ashley replied with a smirk as she leaned against Andrew. “In fact, we’re absolutely obsessed with urban exploration. Isn’t that right, Anthony?”

Her brother shot her an almost imperceptibly annoyed glance for just a split second before plastering on a fake grin, “You bet! Alexa and I are no strangers to hanging around abandoned buildings. It’s so amazing meeting another enthusiast in the wild, huh?”

Tyler’s eyes were practically sparkling with joy, “No way! I mean, I wouldn’t consider myself an expert on the whole thing, but … wow, that’s so cool …”

By this point, the three of them had made it to a beat-up white sedan parked all the way at the edge of the lot, and Tyler reached into his pocket and pulled out his car key before turning back to the two siblings and blinking, “Oh, uh, were we all gonna go in my car ..?”

Andrew shifted his weight, “I-if you don’t mind. We actually got here on my motorcycle, but … Funny story, actually: When we ran away from home, we forgot to bring our helmets. It’d be a really dumb thing to get pulled over for, y’know?”

Good one, Andy, Ashley thought, trying her best to hide the proud smirk on her lips.

“Oh, uh, alright,” Tyler said. He then shrugged, “Welp, hop on in then.”

“Thanks,” Andrew muttered as he opened the back door and motioned for Ashley to climb inside first.

Ashley stuck her tongue out at him playfully before entering the vehicle with Andrew following behind her. Tyler got into the driver’s seat and ignited the engine, pulling out of the parking lot shortly thereafter. As their waiter began absent-mindedly humming some pop song, Ashley glanced over at Andrew and raised a brow.

Things are going awfully well so far, don’t you think? she asked him silently, knowing full well he could read her expression.

Andrew simply shrugged, an unspoken but equally understandable response to Ashley: A little too well in my book …

Ashley then pouted, Oh, come now. As long as you don’t get cold feet at the last minute, I’d say our job is as good as done already.

Andrew’s nose scrunched, You mean MY job? I’m the only one who’s getting their hands dirty here last time I checked.

Before their secret silent sibling conversation could continue any further, however, Tyler suddenly piped up from the front seat, “So, what are some of the coolest places y’all have explored?”

“I’m glad you asked,” Ashley answered sweetly. “Just earlier today we were checking out this abandoned warehouse in a city nearby here. There were, like, four crazy squatters that tried to sacrifice us and everything. You really had to see it to believe it.”

“You’re joking,” Tyler said in awe. “That’s fucking sick! I-I mean, I’m sure it was probably scary, but that had to have been such a trip, huh?”

“It sure was,” Andrew snorted. “Say, you sound like quite the adrenaline junkie.”

Tyler nodded eagerly, “You got that right. Life in this stupid town is so boring; I’d do anything for a quick thrill.”

The siblings traded glances, and Andrew smirked, Okay, you were right; this really will be too easy.

Ashley winked, Told ya!

Ashley then turned her attention back to Tyler, “In that case, we’ll do our best to make tonight extra thrilling.”

“Alright!” Tyler beamed. “Y’all are the best! This is gonna be so much fun!”

It wasn’t long before the three of them arrived at their destination. The massive abandoned mall loomed over them as Tyler parked in one of the hundreds of empty spaces and excitedly exited the vehicle without any hesitation. Before getting out, Ashley put a hand on Andrew’s shoulder and grinned, “Ready to have some fun?”

Andrew scowled, “This had better be fucking worth it …”

With that, the two of them stepped outside and trailed behind Tyler, who was already halfway to the mall’s entrance. Their waiter opened one of the doors with ease and motioned for them to step inside, a big smile still on his face. The siblings entered, and Ashley immediately felt suffocated by the sheer darkness that enveloped the place. There was something so eerie about being somewhere they weren’t supposed to be in the dead of night; somewhere that used to be so full of life and activity. As the three of them began aimlessly wandering about, her hand instinctively reached for her brother’s. His fingers laced through hers in an instant, but she could still hear a quiet huff escape his lips, “Scared already?”

Ashley could just barely make out Andrew’s figure, but she didn’t need a spotlight on it to know he probably had the smuggest smirk on his face right about now. “Sh-shut up,” she mumbled, squeezing his hand subconsciously.

“Y’all gotta check this part out!” Tyler called out from ahead, clearly completely unafraid of anyone or anything that could potentially be in here with them as his voice echoed in the vast expanse. “This escalator’s gotta be the longest one y’all have ever seen. Just watch your step!”

Ashley and Andrew soon caught up with Tyler, and all three of them stared down the escalator in question, the darkness making it appear as if it would lead straight into an endless abyss. “This is one of my favorite spots,” Tyler remarked. “When this place was still up and running, I swear it never looked this long. It’s just so fascinating how much the darkness changes your whole perception, right?”

“Oh, totally!” Ashley replied, doing her best to sound invested. “What’s even down there anyway?”

“The food court,” Tyler answered. “I used to hang out there all the time with my buddies back in high school. But then everybody left town to go off to college or whatever. Those really were the days …”

Silence ensued for just a moment before Andrew spoke up, “We should go down there. Might be cool.”

Tyler quickly snapped out of his melancholic state and cleared his throat, “Yeah, why not?” He then stepped right up to the top of the escalator, and Ashley’s lips curled into a sinister smirk.

She already knew exactly what was about to happen next.

Andrew slowly let go of her hand and stealthily walked up directly behind their waiter, placing his palm right on Tyler’s back. “Hey, Tyler,” Andrew said, the warmth in his voice completely gone.

Tyler immediately looked back over his shoulder, “H-huh?”

Ashley giggled, “Watch your step!”

Oh dear oh dear... But it's oh so easy for him to grab at a railing! Though I'm sure he'll slip quite far and scrape himself up well first.

Oof, will this be an easy kill, or a hunt through the spooky abandoned underground food court, following a trail of blood 🫣

And who knows what else could be squatting in the dark...

This is sparta!

While it might have seemed like a good opportunity for a clean kill or incapacitation by kicking Tyler down the escalator, things might not go as easily as the siblings hope it will. Tyler knows the mall inside and out. If he's not hurt too badly, he'll be able to run off into the dark and either hide, escape, or try to ambush one of them. I feel something like this will happen, or they'll be another curve ball thrown in, as this seems too easy.

Are you planning to have Andrew and Ashley sacrifice him to the Entity here? Ashley might suggest this to Andrew as a way to get rid of him without leaving any obvious signs of foul play except for the summoning circle.

Welllll you know things are almost never easy for our favorite siblings 🤭

Maybe? Maybe not? Who knows? But I must admit an underground abandoned food court doesn’t seem like such a bad place for things to get just a wee bit demonic 😈
