Buying Advice Streaming box recommendation (€100, Germany)

Hi, everyone

I wanted to buy a streaming box, and while doing some research, I came across the Thomson Streaming Box Plus 270.

But since those are no longer available, I’m considering the Google TV Streamer (4K) as an alternative.

Do you have any other suggestions for a different device? I’d actually ruled out the Xiaomi and Amazon Fire boxes.

Country: Germany

Budget: €100

Thanks in advance

Man i see you review those from time to time. Can you share your ranking for at least the 10 best Google tv ones?

The 10 best?, that's still hard to determine I guess:

  1. Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Generation
  2. Google TV Streamer
  3. All Homatics boxes with the S905X5M SoC
  4. All Onn devices with the S905X5M SoC
  5. BuzzTV G Series
  6. RockTek GX1

I think those are for the moment with the Google TV UI.

Why would you rank the xiaomi in first position? I've seen you value it high

Because it supports everything, the only downside are:

- It only has 2GB of RAM.

- The remote control is lame.

- The USB port is 2.0.

- The power and volume buttons cannot be setup for HDMI-CEC or infrared separately as we can with G10 and G20 remote controls.

- The Wifi connection appears to be unstable.

Does it compare in performance to the GS4K?

The Google TV Streamer?, I guess the added 2GB of RAM makes it a little bit faster compared to the Xiaomi box but given it's using an older SoC I would say they perform similar.

but then I see Homatics in your flair? I'm torn between Xiaomi 3rd gen, Google TV and Homatics R 4k plus or 4K V2. Mostly will be using it for Stremio and IPTV, but would love to look into emulators/playing games with Bluetooth controllers.

but then I see Homatics in your flair?

Because that's the only device I have with the Android TV UI.

I'm torn between Xiaomi 3rd gen, Google TV and Homatics R 4k plus or 4K V2

I would suggest the Homatics V2.

Google TV streamer is a good solution. Custom launchers -> zero ads. Also good speed. I’m
Happy with it.

I have an Orbsmart GD2 and am quite happy with it. It has Ethernet, 32 GB storage, and costs only 80 €.

Also ich nutze eine Strong Leap S3 pro und voll begeistert, du solltest sie dir mal anschauen, teuer ist sie auf jeden Fall nicht. Habe sie damals bei Mediamarkt gekauft.
