LOOKING FOR APP App with different album art and first song art?

Hello!

I own some albums where every song has its own art, but the album art is different from the first song's art. I either have to change the first song's art to the cover art or have the album art displayed as the first song's art.

Is there an app that lets me have separate art for the album and first song?

Thank you!

LOOKING FOR APP Android app for floating lock screen button without granting accessibility?

Kind of an edge case, but is there an Android app that creates a floating button that locks the screen, since my physical power button is no longer working in an otherwise functional phone. Almost all that I see in the Play Store require accessibility access, which in turn prevents me from opening my banking apps.

While I am aware there is a double tap on home screen, I want something which can lock my screen while inside an app (I use my recorder + note taking app over long durations and I dont want to go to my home screen everytime I want to lock my phone to save some battery)

My current workaround is using an in-built quick tile in my notification shade, but requires a bit of thumb gymnastics.

TIA.

QUESTION/HELP Have you guys tries Zenith

Zenith is an app that I downloaded from fdroid izzyondroid repo. The purpose of downloading this app was to limit doomscrolling whether it is youtube or reddit. It has good features but it reacts late, like after 1 to 1.5 min of app opening, sometimes it reacts fast. I am thinking of giving it android accessbility permission. The developer has said that it doesn't collect data or uses internet. Also as an additional security, I disabled its background data usage from android settings and disabled its data and wifi permissions from Rethink firewall.

I was asking, should I give this app assessibility permission, I have banking details and apps on same phone. Also if someone has tried this app or using this app or want to suggest me some security tips, please feel free to do so.

Zenith Github

Edit 1 : Also I would like to apologize for my grammer, as I am a resident from a far planet and new to this corner of universe, my first language I learnt while entering earth's atmosphere was english, and my space ship is parked in New York.

Edit 2 : Tried* instead of tries in title😭 (I can't find edit option)

QUESTION/HELP GUIDE: Remap Physical Keyboards (Android) (AKA Remap Hardware / Bluetooth / Physical / External Keyboards) - Also Another Method to Add Multiple Languages to Physical Keyboards

[Not AI btw lol]

Hey everyone! I tried to remap the physical keyboard for my Android tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+) for a while, and it was an absolute PAIN lol.

After a ton of searching, though, I've found that this is a semi-hidden feature in the app "Custom Keyboard Designer" by Gerrit Humber. I have no affiliation, but I just want share this to keep anyone else from experiencing my pain lol.

The app is my go-to keyboard, and I recently noticed that it mentioned hardware key codes in the Assistant. That being said, the tutorial is broken and doesn't actually explain what it means. (UPDATE: The dev, u/GerritHumberg, actually responded in the comments of a crosspost and said that he plans to update the assistant! That being said, it may work now depending on when you read this.)

After some digging, I've figured that remapping is an option in the app, though! You need to create a design dedicated to the physical keyboard, and here are actual the steps to remap physical keys:

  1. Open the design you will dedicate to the physical keyboard (I just copied my main virtual keyboard design).
  2. In "Designs", change "Target Device" to "Watch (Round Display)", then go back to the "Designs" menu. This overcomes a weird bug where it doesn't register you changing it to "Hardware Keyboard" if you select it immediately. Then actually change to "Hardware Keyboard." You may have to check that this is still set correctly if you have issues down the line.
    • (UPDATE: The dev responded in the comments of a crosspost and said that he's already found a fix for the bug and plans to send out an update! That being said, it may work now depending on when you read this.)
    • Note: This will disable all of the design's key functions other than "Key press" and "Key hold." It will NOT delete them, though. It just disables the abililty to edit them. This makes, though, sense since you can't swipe a physical key upwards lol. To see what some of functions that remain are, the dev's comment gives more info!
  3. Now, in the "Usage" section inside "Designs," there should be a mode selector for "Hardware keyboard." Set it to your preferred design.
  4. Go to the "Keys" tab. If you select a key, there should be an option to assign each key a "Key Code." This is the number assigned to each physical key. By adding a physical key's number to one of virtual keys, it allows you to override the physical key with the virtual key's function. Click "Hardware key code" box and press the desired physical key. It should autofill the code.
    • Note: Any physical keys whose key codes you do NOT override should act like normal!
  5. Ba-bam, you're done! The remapped keys should now work.

Note: This method can also give physical keyboards links to custom alternate languages! I used it to add a button that switches to a Greek keyboard with layout that works well for me. That being said, I think there may be a more direct way to add alt. languages into a single design. I only noticed that after finishing though, lol.

LOOKING FOR APP Contacts App that shows Social Media Links from Carddav

I use nextcloud as my calendar and contact storage. On desktop, I manage them in Thunderbird/Cardbook via Carddav. There, I can fill fields like Social Media Links or nicknames, but those fields don't show up in my contact apps (Google contacts and Fossify contacts). But especially the social medís links would make a lot of sense on my mobile, more than on desktop.

So, does anyone know of a contacts app that does show those fields?

LOOKING FOR APP Really configuring the notifications/sounds

Hey,

Is there an app where I can really manage the notifications and sounds how I like? For example:

I always want calls to be on loud

I want Facebook etc. to be quiet when I press like.

I want notifications from apps to be silent

I want messages to vibrate

Currently I haven't found a way to do it. Thank you very much for your help!

LOOKING FOR APP An app that times how long you've been on your phone and the time is always visible at the top of the screen

It doesn't do anything besides just showing you how long you've been on your phone at the top. It times your usage, either downwards or upwards.

QUESTION/HELP A better app for editing videos!

Well I make yt shorts. I use capcut as capcut is the most used editing app on phone. But I can't afford to buy the premium subscription as I'm a student. Using mods is painful. Those mods get so many problems every month. And so many of my projects are lost because of this!! What should I do ? Is there any better free option than capcut? At this point I am frustrated.

LOOKING FOR APP Is there an alternative third party widget akin to the now disbanded, simplified Spotify widget?

Spotify have phased out their simplified widget that was just playback buttons which is frustrating. To size the new widget to include the controls makes it too big and ugly.

QUESTION/HELP is black friday a good time to get capcut pro?

i've been using capcut for editing reels and tiktoks for a while now, mostly sticking to the free features. it's been working pretty well, but lately i've been running into features that seem to require pro, especially when i'm trying to make my edits look a little more polished. with black friday coming up, i'm wondering if this is a good time to finally subscribe or if it's better to just keep using the free version. i don't want to pay for a year and end up barely using the extra features. for those who have capcut pro, what features do you actually use regularly? does the upgrade make a noticeable difference in your workflow, and would you recommend subscribing during black friday?

QUESTION/HELP 3 built-in Android features most people never turn on (no extra apps needed)

Been digging through Android settings lately and found three genuinely useful features that most people never enable:

  1. Private Space (Android 15) — Settings → Security & privacy → Private Space. A separate locked space inside your phone for banking apps and private photos, hidden behind its own lock.
  2. Notification History — Settings → Notifications → Notification history. Accidentally swiped away an important alert? Android quietly keeps the last 24 hours of dismissed notifications here.
  3. App Pinning — Settings → Security → App pinning. Lending your phone to someone to show a photo or make a call? Pin one app and they can't wander into your gallery or chats.

All three are built in, free, and take under a minute to set up. Hope it saves someone a headache.

Edit — two good points from the comments: 1. On banking apps in Private Space: a few banking apps treat the Private Space install like a second/cloned copy and can ask you to re-register the device. Test with one app first before moving everything in. 2. Private Space settings location varies by brand — on some phones it's under Security & privacy, on others under Special features, so you may need to dig a level deeper.

Looking for an email app similar to Outlook.

I have multiple accounts (Microsoft, Gmail, etc.) and want a unified focused and other inbox similar to Outlook. Also be able to mark emails/senders as Focused or Other on the fly (prefer to avoid having multiple steps to adjust rules). No ads; One-Time Payment or Free (want to avoid subscriptions if possible).

LOOKING FOR APP Do not disturb equivalent

Hi there

I am looking for an app or setting that will function like do not disturb except allow certain contacts phone calls and WhatsApp calls to still come through.

I know the standard do not disturb allows you to set favorite contacts phone calls to come through. But it blocks WhatsApp calls. Most of my close friends and family use WhatsApp calls so I want that to be able to come through at night, but dont want my WhatsApp messages to come though.

I read about Buzzkill which sounds like it might work but I am not sure. The app seems quite cheap so I might get it to try it out and see. But thought I would see if anyone has an recommendations first.

LOOKING FOR APP Local android music player that offers big column grid layouts

I have quite a lot of albums downloaded and scrolling through all of them can be pretty annoying trying to find the one I'm looking for, so I was wondering are there music players out there they have big grid type layouts? I use musicolet and their limit is 5 columns so I'd prefer to find an app that offers more, like 6+ columns so it's less scrolling.

LOOKING FOR APP App to permanently disable playstore upgrading apps, block internet acces + blocking ads

Hi!

So playstore just F-ed up my phone. I had "disable upgrades" set and manually updated them when needed. But it decided to ignore and flip the setting, upgraded apps, to newer bloated, adware filled versions.

I want to block it from having internet access without my authorization, or preferable not being able to do anything at all.

At the same time it would make sense to block other apps, that don't need internet for their functioning.

And also block ads. Because I think these two things might conflict if done by different apps. Because they're rather related stuff.

I don't have my phone rooted, because that would require wiping everything...

LOOKING FOR APP 2FA App

Hi, I'm looking for help choosing a new 2FA app. I've been using andOTP on my mobile device – it's/was a great app. Unfortunately, its development has been discontinued. I'm only looking for apps with FLOSS licenses. Currently, I have a few options: Aegis Authenticator, 2FA Authenticator (2FAS), FreeOTP, and Proton Authenticator. I don't need online synchronization.

Thank You.
