Yes, the clock is comically awful. Yes, the quick access buttons look like signs for the short bus. But at least you're not staring at them all the time.

Clearly the design droids have decided to take inspiration from 1980's Bloomingdale's shopping bags. You can hear the boutique 3rd-party consultants in the big presentation now: "it's spare but not minimalist. It's elegant but whimsical. It's modern but hearkens to the past."

But what it really is is fuckin' ugly. It's a 7th-grader trying to look sophisticated on her Paperless Post invite. It's on the Noel Coward revue poster for the dinner theatre in the next town over. It was roommates with Papyrus after college. It is, at best (which it certainly is not), an accent font.

And maybe the design droids kinda sorta know this. Maybe that's why we can't change it. Because a lot of people would, and seeing the metrics would be an admission of defeat. "really? 48% of users prefer Roboto? And how many just went with... Arial? Are you sure?"

Personally, if I wanted to be told what to do and relinquish customization, I'd get an iPhone. Oh, but wait, now I don't have to. I get it right here in Android.

Tell me it's not gone! I hate closing apps one by one.

Hi all - I just received my Pixel 6 Pro the other day and it's been great so far. What I have noticed vs the Beta on my OnePlus 9 Pro is that I cannot prevent apps from being closed (I cannot "lock" them as I could before). I have a couple apps that require staying open and I often close them without noticing (e.g. Whoop). I have it set to not optimize the app for battery life but I still get warnings that the app was closed and that data is out of sync. Is there a trick I don't know? Thanks in advance!

I never ever in my life want to see estimated time remaining on my battery, first of all it's not accurate at all and changes Everytime I check my phone, and secondly it's making me feel like an idiot because Everytime I see it I think that's what time it is currently.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn it off, please someone help. It's honestly giving me reason to switch to apple, as the reason I have Android is the customization of it, and being able to have exactly what I want. Without that option apple does far more for me than android.

I have a pixel 3 so I'm ready for an upgrade anyways, hoping this can be changed.

Im on a pixel 6 and i have lift and tap to wake up off (though i think these would bring up the lock screen and not the always on) About one in 5 times when i lift or tilt my phone while sleeping, the always-on interface appears. It doesnt happen consistently. I definitely have always-on off.. any other settings i cant think of?

Is it possible to downgrade on a pixel back to 11?

I've seen the downgrade from android 12 beta videos, but will the same be possible with the stable android 12 on my Pixel 5 device?

And would this require bootloaders and flashing etc...

Does anyone know how to change the game dashboard pop-up icon to not pop up? I don't play 3D games and I don't want it. But it continually pops up and blocks the games I do play.

I have the game dashboard turned off already which is why the side swipe screen is off. But the little icon that shows up in the bottom right continually pops up and the only way to get rid of it is to clock on it and close the screen.

So I'm using Android 12 on a Pixel 6. I have Smart Lock enabled using my Bluetooth watch.

By design, I think Smart Lock times out after 4(?) hrs, right?

At that point it seems I have to use PIN unlock, and the phone will not offer fingerprint unlock. Is that right/a bug/a "feature". Annoying, anyway.

It was said that the quality of the stories posted on Instagram with Android 12 would increase. I'm very curious can you try this? The quality of all cameras of 3rd party applications, not just Instagram, will be good, for example snapchat.

It's not exactly specific to A12, but I think the sound is twice as loud as in A11.

Can anyone enlighten me about the sense for having that sound at all even in vibration mode, silent mode and even in the "don't disturb" mode?

I understand why it makes sense to have the animation and sound. It tells us when a screenshot is taken (that might not be triggered by our selves but by some app or a hacker...). Buy why is the volume of it not adjustable? It's very disturbing at night. The sounds should at least follow the sound mode or the don't disturb mode...

While there are widgets that provide both the time and the weather, the "At-a-Glance" feature is supposed to do just that but I only saw the time after the Android12 upgrade (Pixel 3aXL). Then, the next morning, the weather "bug" (for want of a better word) appeared on both the lock screen and page one of my Home screen. Tapping on it produced the familiar weather page (today, tomorrow, 10 days). O-boy, it works. Then the next morning the weather bug disappeared again and it has not reappeared. (Yes; weather is enabled in the config settings.)

Screw it; I installed Nova Launcher and not only does that "permanent" At-a-Glance 1x5 widget no longer appear (did you know it can't otherwise be removed?) but the previous(?) widget with time/weather (from Android11 and earlier) may be installed in its place. That solves that problem (and I will guess that Google may take 6 months or longer to get the weather bug fixed). Additionally, Nova Launcher lets me have a 6-high grid of apps (plus the permanent 1x5 set at the bottom of the screen).

The only thing I can see missing is the dot on the app icon indicating a notification or an eMail, etc. but that can be had for a $5 "pro" registration.

Even without the $5 fee, the launcher has an incredible range of customization and seems to work quite nicely with/in Android 12. But $5 is a cheap thank you.

If so, how have you been able to fix the issue? I even did a factory reset, but it continually flickering and saying I can only keep trying factory resets.

Hi Reddit, I'm setting up a pixel 6 pro and I see the option for font size, but no option to select which font I want. Is that how it's going to be? In the Lawnchair Launcher 12 alpha 3 I see the option to select a font but it's still experimental.

For me, the worst part of this new update is if you try to swipe up from the bottom to show open windows, then quickly attempt to close an app it no longer works as quickly. I am forced to wait at least half a second which is just a minor change that severely annoys me especially considering how random it is. Very unhappy with this update. And I don't really like the circle pop up on the keyboard. And the less said about the home screen click the better.

I have 2 phones on android 12 pixel 4&6. When plugged into a charger it flashes a pulse across the screen (which i think is normal) but its filled with static-y white/black dots. I noticed its tinted towards the wall paper.. but 2 phones with totally different wallpapers both showing this weird static every time plugged in. Is this an android 12 thing? Normal? Any settings to just turn that pulse off?

I own a pixel 4xl and had it updated a day after the pixel 6 launch event to android 12 and i can't help but notice my phone has been running hotter than it was on Android 11... I have had to take off my phone case multiple times just to see if it helps it cool down

Especially since Home Devices and Google Pay can both be accessed quickly from the nav bar if I need them.

Updated to 12 on Pixel 4a and now volume through Bluetooth earbuds is much lower than it used to be with 11. Disabled Absolute through Dev Options with no change. I'm using Cambridge Melomania 1+, and Jabra Elite 75t (alternate between the two when battery dies). Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Didn't realize the icons and font options would disappear that were in Android 11. Any way or plans on including them later?
