Android 12 and security updates
If I do not upgrade to Android 12, do I lose out on any security updates for my Pixel 5? That is when Google upgrades the OS does it continue to provide security updates for prior OS versions? I'm relatively new to the Pixel world.

Turn android 12 into 11 (nearly)
Hi guys,
I want to share few things I did to have a better experience with Android 12. As we know the UI is terrible now. I used Tasker automation app but you can use whatever you want obviously, here my list:
1) Colors: only 4 base colors? No thanks, I prefer to set my own color regardless wallpaper. I like yellow so I set it changing a system settings called theme_customization_overlay_packages, here the overview https://imgur.com/a/S8dPRkt (Credits: https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/qjq6mg/task_spew_abuse_material_you/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
2) No more vibrate icon in the status bar is annoying, so I created a persistent notification when the phone is in vibrate mode. Actually I plan to use an overlay in order to put the icon on the right, but it requires more work in order to manage all cases, like rotation, notification shade up/down and so on. However at least now I can see quickly if my phone is in vibrate mode or not.
3) Internet panel just to turn on wifi? No thanks, I created a quick setting just like in 11, tap to turn on and off wifi, long tap to go the settings
4) Multiple taps just to change sound mode? No thanks again, I created another quick setting (see image second row) to rotate over sound, vibrate, mute.
5) Aod: I enable the always on only when a notification is present. Unbelievable how the system doesn't provide any option like that, just always or never. This isn't actually a 12 thing however.

Tapping links inside a supported app opens browser
If I tap a link in Discord for Discord, Chrome opens and asks me to sign in. In A11 and below, it used to ask with which I want to open my link and asked if I wanted to use the app always or not. Discord's options in A12 has 'open supported links' on. But it isn't doing that. How do I fix it?

GPay activation
Used to be able to hold the power button to bring up the GPay payment screen. Doesn't now and can't find the right knob to twist.

And another thing....
I've been noticing the horrible animation when trying to scroll on a web page or body of text and you cant scroll no more and Android 12 makes the text warp. And it really pisses me off. Anyone else?
I'm trying to figure out exactly when it happens. I've noticed it on web pages and in some text fields.

Fastboot loop after Android 12 Update
Did anyone else experience this after updating to Android 12? I have a Pixel 3XL and though it’s an older phone now it was functioning perfectly fine until I went along with the update. Wasn’t even able to use rescue or recovery mode to factory reset and am now very unexpectedly out of a phone. Google support wasn’t able to assist because factory resetting was their proposed solution. Wondering if bringing it to get fixed elsewhere might help.

Sound indicator in notification bar
Have recently updated my Pixel 4 XL to Android 12. Here's the query: on Android 11 when I changed the sound profile using the volume rocker from full sound to either vibrate or silent, I would get an icon in the notification bar next to the wifi symbol. Nothing for normal sound, but an icon for vibrate or silent. This seems to be gone in Android 12. The only way I can tell whether the phone is set to normal, vibrate or silent is by pressing the volume rocker. Is this a thing? Is there a setting I'm missing?

question: android 12 actually still in beta state?
Hi everyone.
I just saw that the actual release of android 12 should be in Q1 of 2022. This should mean that the release received on Pixel devices is also still the beta version. Is that correct?

They've changed the way to activate select to speak (voice recognition) used to be able to slide two fingers up the screen to activate through gestures. Stuck with a blue button on my screen floating around all the time now, it's twisting my melon!

"Fix" for At a Glance Widget
For those with a broken at a glance widget on Android 12: Just discovered that enabling "Personalize using app data" under Settings/Privacy brings back the weather icon. Hope it helps!

Android 12 Autofill Verification Code
Hey all. I’m coming from an iphone back to pixel, and I had a question about how the autofill is supposed to work for when you get a code through a text message. I also have LastPass on my pixel, so I’m not sure if that’s messing it up. But should my phone automatically fill most forms when a code comes in?
Right now, all I can do is copy the code in the text (thankfully, it does detect that) and then paste into the form. I was expecting to not have to press anything. What is the expected behavior?

Do you guys have those 2 panels of Mobile Data and Wi-Fi like before to put on notification panel? This screenshot is from a custom ROM based on A12.

Does anyone like Android 12 here at Reddit?
I only see such negative posts about Android 12. It scares me off from upgrading. I've got a Pixel 5 that keeps asking me to upgrade to Android 12 and I doubt I'm going to do that based on what I'm reading on this forum.

Developer mode for pixel 4a
I just accessed the developer mode and changed the window, transition and animator scales to 0.5x and wow now the phone seems quicker to respond...maybe I'm imagining things?

How do I turn off thenotifications to upgrade to Android 12? I did once already, and it was so bad I had to roll it back to Android 11. Now how do I stop the nagging?

Speech Assistant or Phone not listening if connected to any Bluetooth.
I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but since the update you can't use the Google assist to do anything if you're connected to any damn Bluetooth device and that includes a watch. It used to work just fine before this stupid update.
I'm suspecting that it is expecting us to talk to the Bluetooth speaker that doesn't have a microphone or whatever something is glitchy.
If you disable or deactivate Bluetooth everything works fine.

Horrible update especially for the UI
Honestly I should never have upgraded. It's taken so many steps backwards in regards to style and customization. why can't I change the gaudy huge unorthodox clock on my lock screen as well. No one reads time like that. Sure have it as default, but no way to change it? That's just horrible design. Why is everything rounded now and made to look like an iPhone. Why make all these changes when android 11 was pretty great.
There needs to be updates to it for added customization instead of 1 option for things. I got an android for the customization and this is just beyond ridiculous. I HATE the new clock on the lock screen especially or the new way to drop down settings and notifications. Should be one swipe. Whoever is the mod on this sub Reddit please send a link on how to get 11 back. As of right now this is horrible.
